What to know about each team

SMU: SMU doesn’t play in one of the traditional “power” conferences, but it has proven it can hang with some elite competition this season. After a shaky 4-3 start to the season with losses to Michigan, USC and Boise State, it has gone 24-1 since -- including wins over eight top-100 teams. Semi Ojeleye, a Duke transfer, is a force to be reckoned with down low.

USC: The Trojans have beaten UCLA and SMU, but hardly anybody else of note -- only two of their 24 victories are against top-50 RPI teams. It’s worth noting USC’s leading scorer (Bennie Boatwright) missed 17 games this season with a knee injury. The sophomore forward is healthy now, though. He’s scored in double figures in 10 of USC’s past 11 games.
