Another reason for the win was Louisiana's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Cameron Whitfield and his 3.5 sacks.

The victory got Arkansas State back to even at 4-4. As for Louisiana, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Both teams pleased both fans and bettors in their last matchups by winning and covering the spread.
