Connecticut pulled off something of a recruiting coup Wednesday, getting in-state linebacker Cory Jasudowich to flip his commitment from Boston College to UConn. Jasudowich, the fourth-best player in Connecticut according to Rivals.com, had committed to BC over the summer before changing his mind. He also held offers from Maryland, Temple and Massachusetts.
That now brings Paul Pasqualoni's total of commitments for 2013 to 18, including four linebackers. Shrewd move, especially considering that the Huskies will soon be replacing linebacker Sio Moore, and they'll need someone to occupy the middle with sophomore leading-tackler Yawin Smallwood.
Rutgers in with Delaware wideout: Kyle Flood and the Scarlet Knights have already secured commitments from 17 players in the class of 2013, but one remaining target is Wilmington (Del.) wide receiver Andre Patton. At 6-4, 200 pounds, Patton is a big target that could make an immediate impact in Piscataway. A three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, Patton told NJ.com that he is also considering Connecticut, Purdue and Iowa, despite also holding offers from Illinois, Boston College, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Syracuse.
D-end picks Temple: Darius Roper, a defensive end from New Jersey, has committed to play for the Owls. At 6-2, 237 pounds, Roper ran a 40 in 4.76, according to Rivals.com. He chose Temple over interest from Connecticut, Albany and Delaware.
