BYU vs. Troy updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the BYU vs. Troy football game
Game Recap
On Saturday, the BYU Cougars turned the game against the Troy Trojans into a track meet and took the gold after outgaining them 665 yards to 157. BYU claimed a resounding 48-7 win over Troy at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cougars had established a 38-7 advantage.
BYU QB Zach Wilson was on fire, passing for two TDs and 392 yards on 29 attempts in addition to punching in two rushing touchdowns. Wilson's 70-yard touchdown toss to WR Dax Milne in the third quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the night. TE Masen Wake was in the mix, too, providing BYU with two touchdowns.
BYU defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Trojans offensive line to sack the QB four times for a loss of 11 yards. Leading the way was DL Khyiris Tonga and his two sacks. Those were the first sacks for Tonga through Week 4.
Troy only touchdown came from RB B.J. Smith.
The victory makes it two in a row for the Cougars and bumps their record up to 2-0. The loss dropped the Trojans back to even at 1-1.
BYU will stay at home against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at 9 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Louisiana Tech is coming in off of a big 66-38 win over the Houston Baptist Huskies. Troy will hit the road for the third straight week as they head to Hancock Whitney Stadium at 8 p.m. ET next Saturday. The South Alabama Jaguars are hoping for a better outcome this game after a 42-10 defeat to the UAB Blazers.
