Central Michigan vs. Washington State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Friday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Central Michigan vs. Washington State football game
Bowl season is underway, and the Central Michigan Chippewas and the Washington State Cougars will compete for postseason bragging rights in the Sun Bowl at Sun Bowl at noon ET on Friday. These two teams are strolling into their game after big wins in their previous games.
The Chippewas made easy work of the Eastern Michigan Eagles five weeks ago and carried off a 31-10 win. It was another big night for CMU's RB Lew Nichols III, who rushed for one TD and 191 yards on 43 carries.
Meanwhile, Washington State ran circles around the Washington Huskies five weeks ago, and the extra yardage (454 yards vs. 200 yards) paid off. Washington State put the hurt on Washington with a sharp 40-13 victory. RB Max Borghi continued his habit of dropping crazy stat lines, rushing for two TDs and 129 yards on 22 carries.
Special teams collected 19 points for Washington State. K Dean Janikowski delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.
The Chippewas are expected to lose this next one by 7. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.
A pair of stats to keep an eye on: CMU is stumbling into the contest with the 164th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown nine on the season. The Cougars have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 223rd worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown 13 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
