Live scores, highlights and updates from the Central Michigan vs. Western Michigan football game
Game Recap
After a dominant win in their contest last Wednesday, the Central Michigan Chippewas were humbled on Wednesday. They came up short against the Western Michigan Broncos, falling 52-44. CMU hasn't found any success against WMU since Nov. 1 of 2017, this loss making it three in a row.
QB Kaleb Eleby had a stellar game for the Broncos as he passed for five TDs and 382 yards on 20 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. Near the top of the highlight reel was Eleby's 85-yard TD bomb to WR D'Wayne Eskridge in the third quarter. WR Jaylen Hall was in the mix, too, providing WMU with two touchdowns.
A silver lining for CMU was the play of WR Kalil Pimpleton, who rushed for three TDs and 108 yards on seven carries. One of the most memorable plays of the matchup was Pimpleton's 65-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter.
CMU's overall record fell to 2-1. The Broncos' victory brought them up to 3-0.
The Chippewas will take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles at 4 p.m. ET next week at Rynearson Stadium. EMU is still on the hunt for that elusive first W. WMU will look to defend their home turf next week against the Northern Illinois Huskies at noon ET. WMU is cruising in on a three-game winning streak while NIU is stumbling in off of three consecutive losses.
