East Carolina vs. South Florida Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Thursday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the East Carolina vs. South Florida football game
Game Recap
The East Carolina Pirates had a rough outing against the Houston Cougars last week, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. East Carolina strolled past the South Florida Bulls with points to spare on Thursday, taking the contest 29-14. That result was just more of the same for the Pirates, who also won the last time these teams played (Oct. 10 of last year).
QB Holton Ahlers and RB Rahjai Harris were among the main playmakers for East Carolina as the former passed for one TD and 220 yards on 35 attempts in addition to picking up 78 yards on the ground and the latter rushed for one TD and 100 yards on 22 carries. East Carolina's DB Malik Fleming got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the third quarter into a touchdown.
East Carolina's defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
No one had a standout game offensively for South Florida, but they got scores from WR Xavier Weaver and RB Jaren Mangham.
East Carolina's win ended a six-game game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-4. The Bulls' overall record fell to 2-6.
The Pirates will look to defend their home turf next week against the Temple Owls at 3 p.m. ET. South Florida will take on Houston at 7:30 p.m. ET next week at home.
