East Carolina vs. Temple: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the East Carolina vs. Temple football game
This Saturday, the Temple Owls are hoping to patch up the holes in a defense that has allowed an average of 35.75 points per game. Temple and the East Carolina Pirates will face off in an American Athletic battle at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. East Carolina should still be feeling good after a win, while the Owls will be looking to get back in the win column.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-7, which was the final score in Temple's tilt against the UCF Knights last week. Temple was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 21 to nothing. QB D'Wan Mathis had a pretty forgettable game, passing for only 121 yards on 30 attempts.
Meanwhile, East Carolina strolled past the South Florida Bulls with points to spare last Thursday, taking the matchup 29-14. East Carolina can attribute much of their success to QB Holton Ahlers, who passed for one TD and 220 yards on 35 attempts in addition to picking up 78 yards on the ground, and RB Rahjai Harris, who rushed for one TD and 100 yards on 22 carries.
The Pirates' defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
The Owls are the clear underdogs, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn't have high expectations for them since the squad is 1-3 ATS when expected to lose.
Temple is now 3-5 while East Carolina sits at 4-4. East Carolina is 2-1 after wins this season, and Temple is 2-2 after losses.
