Eastern Michigan vs. Western Michigan: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Tuesday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Eastern Michigan vs. Western Michigan football game
Game Recap
If the Western Michigan Broncos were expecting to get some payback for the 53-42 defeat against the Eastern Michigan Eagles when they previously met last December, then they were left disappointed. The Broncos had victory within their grasp but couldn't quite capture it this past Tuesday as the team lost 22-21 to EMU. WMU hasn't found any success against the Eagles since Oct. 6 of 2018, this loss making it three in a row.
RB Jawon Hamilton had only a few touches last Tuesday, but he got the ball a lot more this time and made it count. Among those leading the charge for EMU was Hamilton, who picked up 181 yards on the ground on 21 carries. Hamilton's longest run was for 60 yards in the second quarter. We would be remiss not to mention K Chad Ryland, too, whose 19-yard field goal in the fourth quarter was the deciding factor in the contest.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 16. Ryland delivered a perfect 5-for-5 game.
WR Skyy Moore hadn't helped WMU's cause all that much against the Akron Zips last week, but the same can't be said for this matchup. Moore put forth a good effort for the losing side as he caught 12 passes for one TD and 181 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Moore's 74-yard TD reception in the second quarter.
The loss dropped WMU's record to 6-5. The Eagles' win brought them up to 7-4.
The Broncos will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday. As for EMU, they will go up against the Central Michigan Chippewas at noon ET next week at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
