Live scores, highlights and updates from the Florida State vs. Duke football game
Game Recap
The Florida State Seminoles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Duke Blue Devils as they made off with a 56-35 win. The oddsmakers were on FSU's side, but they didn't give the team enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide.
The Seminoles' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 28 points in the first half. Duke wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 28-21 heading into the break. FSU put the matchup away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
It was another big night for FSU's QB Jordan Travis, who passed for two TDs and 192 yards on 18 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 90 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Travis' 68-yard TD bomb to RB Ja'Khi Douglas in the fourth quarter. RB Jashaun Corbin was in the mix, too, providing FSU with three touchdowns.
The Seminoles' defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
Duke's loss came about despite a quality game from RB Mataeo Durant, who rushed for one TD and 127 yards on 13 carries. That touchdown -- a 64-yard rush in the second quarter -- was one of the highlights of the contest.
The victory improved FSU's record to 3-6. The Blue Devils' defeat pushed them down to 2-9.
The Seminoles will take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at noon ET next Saturday at Truist Field. FSU is 0-2 after wins this season, and Wake Forest is 1-2 after losses. As for Duke, their regular season is over.
