Georgia Southern vs. Louisiana Tech: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Wednesday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia Southern vs. Louisiana Tech football game
The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will compete for holiday cheer in the New Orleans Bowl on Wednesday at Mercedes-Benz Superdome at 3 p.m. ET.
There was early excitement for Georgia Southern after they claimed the game's first points last week, but it was the Appalachian State Mountaineers who ended up claiming the real prize. The Eagles fell to Appalachian State 34-26. That makes it the first time this season Georgia Southern has let down their home crowd. No one had a standout game offensively for Georgia Southern, but they got scores from QB Justin Tomlin and WR Dexter Carter Jr.. One of the most thrilling moments was Carter Jr.'s 78-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the night started off rough for Louisiana Tech last week, and it ended that way, too. They took a serious blow against the TCU Horned Frogs, falling 52-10. The Bulldogs were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 31 to nothing. One thing holding Louisiana Tech back was the mediocre play of QB Luke Anthony, who did not have his best game: he passed for only 161 yards on 25 attempts.
With the two teams each stumbling in off of a defeat, both will be hungry for the victory. Giving up four turnovers, the Eagles had had trouble holding onto the ball. We'll see if Louisiana Tech can exploit that vulnerability.
