Live scores, highlights and updates from the Louisiana-Monroe vs. South Alabama football game
Game Recap
The South Alabama Jaguars typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks proved too difficult a challenge. The Warhawks were able to grind out a solid win over South Alabama, winning 41-31. For Louisiana-Monroe, this is just revenge for the 38-14 loss they suffered against the Jaguars the last time they faced one another on Oct. 24 of last year.
The game started off well for Louisiana-Monroe, whose offense put up 24 first-half points. South Alabama wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 24-17 heading into the break. The offense for Louisiana-Monroe continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 17 points to put the game away.
QB Chandler Rogers had a stellar game for the Warhawks as he passed for four TDs and 369 yards on 35 attempts in addition to picking up 39 yards on the ground. Rogers' 81-yard touchdown toss to WR Will Derrick in the third quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the night.
The losing side was boosted by WR Jalen Tolbert, who caught ten passes for two TDs and 154 yards.
Louisiana-Monroe's victory brought them up to 4-3. The defeat dropped the Jaguars' record to an identical 4-3.
The Warhawks will square off against the Appalachian State Mountaineers at 3:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Those two teams might be coming in a bit winded after having run the length of the field multiple times in their most recent games. As for South Alabama, they will go up against the Arkansas State Red Wolves at 5 p.m. ET next Saturday at Hancock Whitney Stadium. South Alabama will have the chance to boost their scoring average against an Arkansas State defense that has allowed 44 points per game on average.
