Marshall vs. Western Kentucky updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Marshall vs. Western Kentucky football game
Game Recap
After a dominant win in their matchup last week, the Marshall Thundering Herd were humbled on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 53-21 walloping at the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers' hands. It was supposed to be a close contest, and Marshall was supposed to come out on top, but neither of those things ended up happening.
It was another big night for the Hilltoppers' QB Bailey Zappe, who passed for four TDs and 328 yards on 48 attempts. Zappe's 50-yard touchdown toss to WR Daewood Davis in the third quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the afternoon. Western Kentucky's DB Davion Williams got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the fourth quarter into a touchdown.
Special teams collected 17 points for WKU. K Brayden Narveson delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game. One of the most memorable scores? A 43-yard kickoff return for touchdown from WR Craig Burt Jr. in the fourth quarter.
No one had a standout game offensively for Marshall, but they got scores from TE Devin Miller, WR Shadeed Ahmed, and QB Luke Zban.
The loss dropped Marshall's record to 7-5. The victory improved WKU's record to 8-4. With that, the East Division playoffs come to an end.
