Memphis vs. Navy updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Thursday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Memphis vs. Navy football game
Game Recap
If the Navy Midshipmen were expecting to get some payback for the 10-7 loss against the Memphis Tigers when they previously met last November, then they were left disappointed. On Thursday, the Midshipmen lost to Memphis on the road by a decisive 35-17 margin. Navy hasn't found any success against the Tigers since Sept. 8 of 2018, this defeat making it three in a row.
Memphis' WR Calvin Austin III did his thing and punched in one rushing touchdown. That touchdown -- a 69-yard rush in the first quarter -- was one of the highlights of the contest. QB Seth Henigan had a good game, too, finishing with two touchdowns.
Memphis' defense was a presence as well, as it got past Navy's offensive line to sack the QB four times for a total loss of 36 yards. It was a group effort with four guys contributing.
No one had a standout game offensively for the Midshipmen, but they got scores from WR Mychal Cooper and FB James Harris II.
Navy's overall record fell to 1-5. The win bumped the Tigers' record up to 4-3.
Navy will square off against the Cincinnati Bearcats at noon ET next week at Jack Stephens Field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. As for Memphis, they will go up against the UCF Knights at 7 p.m. ET next week at Bounce House. If the matchup is anything like Memphis' 50-49 victory from their previous meeting in October of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
