Live scores, highlights and updates from the Middle Tenn. vs. Western Kentucky football game
Game Recap
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers were successful in their previous meeting against the Middle Tenn. Blue Raiders, and they didn't afford Middle Tenn. any payback this time around. On Saturday, the Hilltoppers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Middle Tenn. 20-17. This was a must-win game for WKU as they bounced back from a huge upset against the Liberty Flames two weeks ago.
WKU QB Tyrrell Pigrome did work as he passed for two TDs and 188 yards on 36 attempts in addition to picking up 55 yards on the ground. WKU also relied on the talents of K Brayden Narveson, whose two field goals, the longest a 53-yard boot in the third quarter, proved pivotal in the final score.
Middle Tenn.'s loss came about despite a quality game from QB Asher O'Hara, who passed for one TD and 217 yards on 33 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 98 yards.
WKU's win brought them up to 0-2. The Blue Raiders' overall record fell to 0-3.
The Hilltoppers will take on the Marshall Thundering Herd at 7:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Houchens-Smith Stadium. Marshall is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 17-7 win over the Appalachian State Mountaineers two weeks ago. As for Middle Tenn., they will go up against the FIU Panthers at 4 p.m. ET next Saturday at Riccardo Silva Stadium. FIU is coming in off of a close defeat (36-34 to Liberty).
