Nevada vs. San Jose State updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Nevada vs. San Jose State football game
Game Recap
The San Jose State Spartans typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday the Nevada Wolf Pack proved too difficult a challenge. Nevada skirted past the Spartans 27-24. The overall outcome was to be expected, but SJSU made it more of a contest than the oddsmakers had predicted.
No one had a standout game offensively for the Wolf Pack, but they got scores from WR Romeo Doubs and DB Berdale Robins. Nevada also relied on the talents of K Brandon Talton, whose two field goals, the longest a 51-yard boot in the third quarter, proved pivotal in the final score.
SJSU's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of QB Nick Starkel, who passed for three TDs and 284 yards on 40 attempts, and RB Tyler Nevens, who picked up 116 yards on the ground on 14 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD.
The win improved Nevada's record to 7-2. The loss dropped the Spartans back to even at 5-5.
The Wolf Pack will square off against the San Diego State Aztecs at 10:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park. Like Nevada, San Diego State is also coming into the matchup bolstered by a recent victory. SJSU will look to defend their home turf next Saturday against the Utah State Aggies at 10:30 p.m. ET. Utah State is 5-1 after wins this season, and SJSU is 3-1 after losses.
