Northwestern vs. Iowa: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Northwestern vs. Iowa football game
Game Recap
The Northwestern Wildcats' 7-2 record from last season has become a distant memory after another unsuccessful outing. They were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 17-12 to the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Iowa apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played, back in October of last year.
RB Tyler Goodson was the offensive standout of the game for the Hawkeyes, rushing for one TD and 141 yards on 21 carries. Working against Iowa was the performance of QB Alex Padilla, who fumbled the ball once with only 172 yards passing.
The losing side was boosted by RB Evan Hull, who caught six passes for one TD and 89 yards.
Northwestern's defeat pushed them down to 3-6. The victory bumped Iowa's record up to 7-2.
Northwestern will square off against the Wisconsin Badgers at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium. The Wildcats will need a sterling offensive performance if they want to penetrate an unbending defense that has allowed an average of only 15.44 points per game. The Hawkeyes will look to defend their home turf next Saturday against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at 1 p.m. ET. These teams both have allowed few points on average (Iowa 15.67, Minnesota 18.33), so any points scored will be well earned.
