It appears the college career of Notre Dame safety Jamoris Slaughter has come to an end, whether he wants it to or not.
Slaughter ruptured his Achilles' tendon during Notre Dame's win over Michigan State early in the season, missing the rest of the year. He petitioned the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility, hoping to return to the field in 2013.
However, on Wednesday Slaughter tweeted that his petition had been denied by the NCAA.
Notre Dame has not confirmed that Slaughter's petition has been denied. The school does have the option to appeal the decision.
Slaughter had only eight tackles in 2012 before the injury but had 98 tackles and three interceptions in 39 career games with the Irish.
