Notre Dame vs. Purdue updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Notre Dame vs. Purdue football game
The Purdue Boilermakers are staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 2:30 p.m. ET Sept. 18 at Notre Dame Stadium. The odds don't look promising for the Boilermakers, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.
Purdue got themselves on the board against the Connecticut Huskies last week, but UConn never followed suit. Purdue steamrolled past UConn 49 to nothing on the road. With Purdue ahead 35 to nothing at the half, the matchup was all but over already. Their WR David Bell was on fire, catching six passes for three TDs and 121 yards. Jack Plummer's 59-yard touchdown toss down the left side of the field to Bell in the second quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the afternoon.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 32-29 win over the Toledo Rockets last week. The Fighting Irish relied on the efforts of TE Michael Mayer, who caught seven passes for two TDs and 88 yards, and QB Tyler Buchner, who passed for one TD and 78 yards on three attempts in addition to picking up 68 yards on the ground. Notre Dame's victory came on a 25-yard TD pass from QB Jack Coan to Mayer with only 1:14 remaining in the fourth quarter followed up by a gutsy two-point conversion.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 2-0. With a combined 1,009 yards of offense in their previous games, we can expect a fast-paced contest.
