The Texas A&M Aggies will head out on the road to face off against the Ole Miss Rebels at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at Hollingsworth Field. Texas A&M is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Texas A&M was not the first on the board last Saturday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 30-17 win over South Carolina.
Texas A&M's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ainias Smith led the charge by picking up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown. Randy Bond did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and three extra points.
The team's defense also helped out by holding South Carolina to a paltry 209 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Texas A&M's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. South Carolina's QB won't forget Bryce Anderson anytime soon given Anderson sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. Everything went their way against Vanderbilt as Ole Miss made off with a 33-7 win. Ole Miss was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why.
Ole Miss can attribute much of their success to Quinshon Judkins, who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayton Wade, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Texas A&M to 5-3 and Ole Miss to 7-1.
Texas A&M is hoping to beat the odds on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. This contest might not be the best time to bet them against the spread since they've let bettors down the last three times they've played.
Texas A&M couldn't quite finish off Ole Miss in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 and fell 31-28. Can Texas A&M avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
