Penn State vs. Rutgers updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Penn State vs. Rutgers football game
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights need to shore up a defense that is allowing 37.55 points per contest. RU and the Penn State Nittany Lions will face off in a Big Ten battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Beaver Stadium. RU is limping into the game on a three-game losing streak.
The oddsmakers predicted a rough matchup for the Scarlet Knights last week, and boy were they were right. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 27 to nothing walloping at the Michigan State Spartans' hands. One thing holding RU back was the mediocre play of QB Johnny Langan, who did not have his best game; besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw one interception with a passing completion percentage of only 40%.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Penn State had to settle for a 28-17 defeat against the Ohio State Buckeyes. No one had a big game offensively for Penn State, but they got one touchdown from RB Journey Brown.
These two teams will surely be fighting tooth and nail to get back into the win column after losses last week. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Scarlet Knights are stumbling into the contest with the fourth fewest passing touchdowns in the nation, having accrued only seven on the season. To make matters even worse for the Scarlet Knights, the Nittany Lions enter the game with only ten passing touchdowns allowed, good for sixth best in the nation. Rutgers fans had better hope their team can run the ball.
