Pittsburgh vs. NC State Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Pittsburgh vs. NC State football game
Game Recap
Saturday, the Pittsburgh Panthers were out to avenge their 35-17 defeat to the NC State Wolfpack from their previous meeting in October of 2017, but they had no such luck. Pitt lost 30-29 to NC State. What made the loss an especially bitter pill for the Panthers to swallow was that they had been favored by 14 points coming into the game.
NC State QB Devin Leary was slinging it as he passed for four TDs and 336 yards on 45 attempts. On the other hand, RB Ricky Person Jr. had a very so-so game, which wouldn't be worth mentioning except that he carried the ball significantly more than any other NC State running back.
A silver lining for Pitt was the play of QB Kenny Pickett, who passed for one TD and 411 yards on 40 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 40 yards. That was the first 300+ yard effort for Pickett this season. Pickett's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
Pitt's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-0. The win got NC State back to even at 1-1.
The Panthers will take on the Boston College Eagles at 4 p.m. ET next week at Alumni Stadium. BC also suffered a recent defeat, falling 7 to nothing to the North Carolina Tar Heels Saturday. The Wolfpack are on the road again next week and play against the Virginia Cavaliers at noon ET Oct. 10 at David A. Harrison III Field at Scott Stadium.
