There's a lot going on in the SEC aside from Tyrann Mathieu's dismissal. Here's the latest:

  • A Memphis high school guidance counselor has resigned over a fraudulent transcript associated with Auburn freshman running back Jovon Robinson, the Commercial Appeal reported. Auburn didn't comment immediately. The paper said the Wooddale High School counselor admitted to creating the fraudulent transcript, and that Memphis City Schools are still investigating.
  • Arkansas' pass defense, which got shredded in Tuesday's scrimmage, showed marked improvement and broke up several throws in Thursday's practice. Cornerback Darius Winston said a lot of defenders were "flying around to the ball reckless to the run, reckless to the pass. ... It just seemed like our defense got a whole lot better."
  • Florida junior linebacker Darrin Kitchens, the only married player on the Gators, said being hitched gives him an edge on the field. "It puts things in perspective," he told the Gainesville Sun. "I got something a little more to push for. I'm not just fighting for myself out there.”
  • Mississippi State redshirt freshman running back Josh Robinson is well on his way to earning meaningful snaps. The 5-foot-9, 215-pounder is hard to tackle because he brings so much power low to the ground. Teammates call him a "bowling ball."
