Sam Houston vs. Middle Tennessee: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Sam Houston vs. Middle Tenn. football game
3rd Quarter Report
After a tough loss on the road their last time out, Sam Houston looks much better today on their home field. A win is still up for grabs for either team after three quarters, but Sam Houston is up 16-13 over Middle Tennessee.
If Sam Houston keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 3-9 in no time. On the other hand, Middle Tennessee will have to make due with a 4-8 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
Sam Houston will be in front of their home fans on Saturday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Sam Houston was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 28-23 to Western Kentucky.
Despite their defeat, Sam Houston saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Noah Smith, who picked up 115 receiving yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all.
Middle Tennessee fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They secured a 34-30 W over UTEP on Saturday.
Middle Tennessee's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Holden Willis, who picked up 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Nicholas Vattiato, who threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns. Willis was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 62 yards.
Western Kentucky's victory bumped their season record to 5-5 while Sam Houston's loss dropped theirs to 2-9.
While only Middle Tennessee took care of their fans the last time they played, neither team managed to cover. Looking ahead, Middle Tennessee is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 3.5 points. For those looking to play the spread, careful betting on Middle Tennessee: they have a less-than-stellar 4-7 record against the spread this season.
