Here are the stories generating headlines Tuesday afternoon across the SEC:

  • Auburn is one of three SEC teams yet to name a starting quarterback, along with Florida and Ole Miss. Al.com writer Charles Goldberg believes the Tigers will be next. Coach Gene Chizik is expected to choose between Kiehl Frazier and Clint Moseley this week, though freshman Jonathan Wallace is generating buzz too.

  • Florida's Sharrif Floyd is back at defensive tackle after playing one season out of position at defensive end. Floyd told the Gainesville Sun "it's like winning the lottery. I'm happy to be back where I'm comfortable at." The 6-3, 303-pounder has 13 career tackles for loss.

  • Georgia tailback Todd Gurley laughed when a teammate compared him to former Alabama star Trent Richardson. Gurley told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that safety Shawn Williams "probably compared me to him because I wear No. 3 and I have dreads like Trent Richardson. I have a long, long, long way to go to be like Trent Richardson." Gurley (6-1, 218) has a similar build to Richardson (5-11, 220) and has been brilliant in Bulldogs scrimmages.

  • South Carolina true freshman RB Mike Davis, the younger brother of former Clemson tailback James Davis, is less likely to redshirt now that Shon Carson is out following wrist surgery. Mike Davis says he's learning a lot from Heisman candidate Marcus Lattimore. "He tells me what to do, what things to look out for," Davis told The Post and Courier
