South Alabama vs. Georgia State updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the South Alabama vs. Georgia State football game
Game Recap
On Saturday, the South Alabama Jaguars were out to avenge their 28-15 loss to the Georgia State Panthers from their previous meeting last November, but they had no such luck. The Jaguars lost to Georgia State at home by a decisive 31-14 margin. South Alabama hasn't found any success against the Panthers since Oct. 29 of 2016, this defeat making it three in a row.
Georgia State can attribute much of their success to RB Tucker Gregg, who punched in three rushing touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns Gregg has had all year. WR Sam Pinckney also helped out with an impressive 176 receiving yards in the victory.
Georgia State's defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed South Alabama's offensive line to sack QB Desmond Trotter seven times total. The heavy lifting was done by LB Jordan Strachan and DE Hardrick Willis, who each racked up two sacks.
No one had a standout game offensively for the Jaguars, but they got scores from RB Carlos Davis and RB Jared Wilson.
South Alabama's loss makes it four in a row and drags their record down to 3-6. The win got the Panthers back to even at 4-4.
South Alabama will take on the Arkansas State Red Wolves at 3 p.m. ET next Saturday at Centennial Bank Stadium. Arkansas State's offense will be looking to get out and run against an Arkansas State squad that has given up 40 points on average this season. As for Georgia State, they will go up against the Georgia Southern Eagles at noon ET next Saturday at Center Parc Stadium. Unlike Georgia State, Georgia Southern will be stumbling in off of a defeat.
