Live scores, highlights and updates from the Syracuse vs. Wake Forest football game
3rd Quarter Report
After a tough loss on the road their last time out, Syracuse looks much better today on their home field. They have jumped out to a 21-17 lead against Wake Forest.
Syracuse came into the match with some extra motivation after the loss they were dealt the last time these two teams faced off. We'll see if they're able to flip the script or if it'll just be more of the same.
Preview
After two games on the road, Syracuse is heading back home. They will take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Saturday, Syracuse couldn't handle Georgia Tech and fell 31-22.
Syracuse's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of LeQuint Allen, who rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns, and Dan Villari who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown. Allen has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Wake Forest's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. It's going to take some time for them to recover from the 45-7 bruising that Notre Dame dished out on Saturday. Wake Forest was surely aware of their disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, the Demon Deacons weren't very productive in the air and finished the game with only 98 passing yards. They were dismantled by their opponents in that department as Notre Dame passed for 313.
Syracuse's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-6. That poor showing could be blamed on the team's lackluster offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.5 points per game. As for Wake Forest, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
In addition to losing their last games, Syracuse and Wake Forest failed to cover the spread. As for their next game, Syracuse is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by three points. This contest will be Wake Forest's seventh straight as the underdogs (so far over this stretch they are 3-3 against the spread).
Syracuse came up short against Wake Forest in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 45-35. Will Syracuse have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check CBS Sports after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other college football content.
