Texas State vs. South Alabama updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texas State vs. South Alabama football game
Game Recap
The South Alabama Jaguars fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 33-31. That's two games in a row now that the Jaguars have lost by two points.
No one had a standout game offensively for Texas State, but they got one touchdown from QB Brady McBride. Near the top of the highlight reel was McBride's 57-yard TD bomb to WR Javen Banks in the first quarter. On the other hand, one thorn in the Bobcats' side was the less-than-spectacular play of RB Calvin Hill, who rushed for 12 yards on five carries.
Like Texas State, South Alabama didn't have any clear offensive standouts, but they got scores from RB AJ Phillips and TE Lincoln Sefcik.
The contest pushed South Alabama down to 3-2 and pulled Texas State up to the reverse at 2-3.
The Jaguars will take on the Georgia Southern Eagles at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday at Hancock Whitney Stadium. Georgia Southern lost a close one recently, falling 27-24 to the Troy Trojans on Saturday. The Bobcats will play host again and welcome Troy to Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET next Saturday. The Trojans' offense will need to be on point to get points against Texas State's defense, which is averaging only 18.17 points allowed per game.
