Live scores, highlights and updates from the Tulane vs. Houston football game
Game Recap
The Houston Cougars won the last time they met up with the Tulane Green Wave, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. The Cougars enjoyed a cozy 40-22 victory over Tulane on Thursday.
Houston's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 17 points in the first half. Tulane was right behind to make the score 17-15 heading into the break. The offense for Houston continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 23 points to put the game away.
Houston's QB Clayton Tune did his thing and passed for three TDs and 288 yards on 36 attempts. WR Jeremy Singleton was in the mix, too, providing the Cougars with two touchdowns.
Houston's defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed the Green Wave's offensive line to sack QB Michael Pratt eight times for a total loss of 60 yards. Leading the way was DL Logan Hall and his two sacks. Hall now has 3.5 sacks this season.
RB Tyjae Spears put forth a good effort for the losing side as he punched in one rushing touchdown. The game pushed Tulane down to 1-5 and pulled Houston up to the reverse at 5-1.
Houston will have some time to savor their win since their next matchup is a little ways off; they will square off against the East Carolina Pirates at TDECU Stadium at 1 p.m. ET in two weeks. As for the Green Wave, they will go up against the SMU Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. ET in two weeks at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
