Tulsa vs. North Texas Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Tulsa vs. North Texas football game
3rd Quarter Report
Fortunes may be turning around for North Texas after losing four in a row. They have a bit of a cushion as they currently lead Tulsa 35-21. North Texas took a bit hit to their ego last Friday, so a victory here would be a pleasant pick-me-up.
If North Texas keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 3-7 in no time. On the other hand, Tulsa will have to make due with a 3-7 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
Tulsa will be in front of their home fans on Saturday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will take on the North Texas Mean Green at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. Tulsa is limping into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Tulsa went for two against Tulane on Saturday, and the resulting failed attempt cost them the contest. Tulsa fell just short of Tulane by a score of 24-22. Despite 120 more yards than Tulane, Tulsa couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the defeat, Tulsa had strong showings from Kamdyn Benjamin, who picked up 157 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Kirk Francis, who threw for 345 yards and a touchdown. Carl Chester also helped out as he racked up 132 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, North Texas gave up the first points and the most points on Friday. They were the victim of a painful 45-21 loss at the hands of SMU. North Texas has struggled against SMU recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Oscar Adaway III, who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Chandler Rogers also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Tulsa's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's lackluster offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.3 points per game. As for North Texas, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
In addition to losing their last games, Tulsa and North Texas failed to cover the spread. Looking forward, North Texas is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 2.5 points. For those looking to play the spread, watch out: Tulsa is playing at home, but their 1-4 record against the spread as such isn't exactly encouraging.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. The Golden Hurricane have been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like the Mean Green struggle in that department as they've been averaging 175.8 per game. It's looking like Saturday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
