The UCLA Bruins will make the move to the Big Ten in 2024 and will be do so with a first time head coach, DeShaun Foster. The former Bruins All-American jumped into coaching after a six-year NFL career and quickly climbed the ranks. Foster is taking over for Chip Kelly, who resigned this offseason and has since joined Ryan Day's staff at Ohio State as the Buckeyes' offensive coordinator. During his time with UCLA, Kelly went 35-34 overall, making three bowl game appearances.

Foster served as the Bruins' running backs coach under Kelly and opted to keep the bulk of UCLA's coaching staff intact when he took the job. One massive role he has to fill, however, is at offensive coordinator, a job Kelly held in addition to his head coaching duties. Will Foster turn to the NFL ranks when hiring an offensive coordinator or will he target a veteran Power 5 coach? Top UCLA offensive coordinator candidates

One name the staff has identified as a potential candidate is former Stanford head coach David Shaw. The former Stanford head coach is highly regarded in the coaching industry, and he has a long track record of guiding highly effective offenses at the college and NFL levels. Shaw led Stanford to arguably the most successful run in program history, going 96-54 overall with three Rose Bowl and eight total bowl game appearances.

Shaw ran a pro-style offensive system during his time as Stanford head coach and offensive coordinator. His system at Stanford produced the Heisman Trophy runner-up in five seasons -- Toby Gerhart (2009), Andrew Luck (2010), Andrew Luck (2011), Christian McCaffrey (2015), and Bryce Love (2017). Shaw's interest in the UCLA job remains unknown, but it is worth noting that his son, Carter, is a walk-on wide receiver for the Bruins.

Another name on the list is former UCF and Nebraska head coach Scott Frost. The former Nebraska quarterback flopped as the head coach of his alma mater, but was once considered one of the top up-and-coming coaches in the business. In 2015, Frost held the role of offensive coordinator at Oregon where he helped guide Marcus Mariota to one of the best individual seasons by a quarterback in college football history en route to him winning that year's Heisman Trophy.

Following his time at Oregon, Frost landed the head coaching job at UCF, where he led the Knights to an unprecedented level of success for the program. In 2017, he coached the Knights to a perfect 13-0 record before ultimately leaving for the Nebraska job. Frost spent the 2023 season out of football. See more candidates at Bruin Report Online.
