Live scores, highlights and updates from the UNLV vs. San Diego State football game
Game Recap
The San Diego State Aztecs won the last time they faced the UNLV Rebels, and things went their way on Friday, too. San Diego State took their matchup against UNLV 28-20.
The Aztecs' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 21 points in the first half. UNLV countered with 10 points. San Diego State coasted a bit in the second half, relying primarily on their first half lead, but they still walked away with the victory.
San Diego State can attribute much of their success to WR Jesse Matthews, who caught nine passes for three TDs and 75 yards. San Diego State's LB Andrew Aleki got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the first quarter into a touchdown.
The Rebels' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of WR Steve Jenkins, who caught five passes for 176 yards, and QB Justin Rogers, who passed for two TDs and 305 yards on 21 attempts.
The win bumped the Aztecs' record up to 10-1. UNLV's loss pushed them down to 2-9.
San Diego State will square off against the Boise State Broncos at noon ET next Friday at Dignity Health Sports Park. These teams both have allowed few points on average (San Diego State 17.36, Boise State 18.27), so any points scored will be well earned. As for UNLV, they will face off against the Air Force Falcons at 3:30 p.m. ET next Friday at Falcon Stadium. Air Force is 5-2 after wins this year, and UNLV is 1-7 after losses.
