Vanderbilt senior LB Tristan Strong is no longer with the Commodores for personal reasons, the team confirmed via its official Twitter account.

Strong, who was a potential starter for the Commodores, had been absent from practice for two days leading up to the news of his departure. The 6-foot-1, 240-pound LB started the first four games of 2011 before missing the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

He totaled 22 tackles in 25 career games for the Commodores to go along with two pass deflections.

The Commodores are thin at LB at this point in fall camp. They already had the task of replacing departed senior LB Chris Marve, who had just shy of 400 tackles in his career. Strong is now out, and projected starters Archibald Barnes and Chase Garnham have dealt with minor injury concerns in camp.

Converted DB Karl Butler, true freshman Darreon Herring and redshirt sophomore Andrew East are some names to watch now that more playing time is available at LB.
