Western Michigan vs. Kent State Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Western Michigan vs. Kent State football game
The Kent State Golden Flashes have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. Kent State and the Western Michigan Broncos will face off in a Mid-American battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Waldo Stadium. The Golden Flashes should still be riding high after a victory, while WMU will be looking to right the ship.
Kent State decided to play defense against itself last week, but the team still came out ahead despite their 94 penalty yards. They walked away with a 48-38 win over the Buffalo Bulls. QB Dustin Crum had a dynamite game for Kent State; he passed for three TDs and 407 yards on 36 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 71 yards.
Meanwhile, it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, but WMU was not quite the Ball State Cardinals' equal in the second half when they met last week. Things couldn't have gone much worse for the Broncos as they lost 45-20. This matchup was a close 17-17 at the break, but unfortunately for them it sure didn't stay that way. QB Kaleb Eleby had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: despite one touchdown, he threw two interceptions and fumbled the ball twice.
The Golden Flashes are expected to lose this next one by 7. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
Kent State is now 3-3 while the Broncos sit at 4-2. Two defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Kent State is 229th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 13 on the season. WMU has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 228th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 13 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
