  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Out again Wednesday

Baty (groin) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Atlanta.

With lefty Chris Sale toeing the rubber for Atlanta, there's a good chance the left-handed-hitting Baty would have been out of the lineup even if he wasn't dealing with right groin tightness. The bigger test for his availability figures to come Thursday, when righty Spencer Strider starts for Atlanta in the series finale. The Mets are going with Jeff McNeil at second base and Ronny Mauricio at third base Wednesday.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | COL

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Sitting versus lefty

McMahon is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.

McMahon will get a rare day of rest after he started in each of the previous six games. Orlando Arcia will cover third base and bat sixth for the Rockies while McMahon gets a breather.

  • Brady House 3B | WAS

Nationals' Brady House: Racks up big-league firsts

House went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 10-6 loss to the Rockies.

In his second career MLB game, House banged out his first career hit with a single in the sixth then drove in his first run with another knock in the ninth. The 22-year-old has reached base four times in his first nine trips to the plate for the Nationals, and while he has yet to show any power, he did homer 13 times in 65 games for Triple-A Rochester prior to his promotion.

  • Eric Wagaman 3B | MIA

Marlins' Eric Wagaman: Ends homer drought Tuesday

Wagaman went 1-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Phillies.

The 27-year-old took Jesus Luzardo deep in the second inning, ending a 20-game homer drought for Wagaman in which he'd hit just .228 (18-for-79) with four doubles and 10 RBI. He's emerged as the Marlins' starting first baseman mostly by default, but Wagaman doesn't have the offensive upside typically associated with the position -- through 270 plate appearances on the season, he's slashing .245/.289/.369 with five home runs and 27 RBI. Deyvison De Los Santos (quadriceps) is on a rehab assignment and should return to action with Triple-A Jacksonville shortly, and he represents the biggest threat in the organization to Wagaman's starting gig.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Delivers another run

Suarez went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays. He was also hit twice by pitches.

Suarez was hit by pitches in consecutive at-bats in the fourth and fifth innings, before he delivered the Diamondbacks' fourth run with a two-out single in the seventh. The RBI was the 10th in the last five games for Suarez, who leads the team with 58 RBI in 72 contests. He's been hit by pitches 10 times this season, which is also tops on the club.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Baty (groin) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The 25-year-old exited Sunday's loss to the Rays due to right groin tightness and will miss at least one start coming off Monday's team off day. According to DiComo, Baty said he's feeling better but isn't sure if he'll be available off the bench. Ronny Mauricio will start at third base Tuesday in place of Baty.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Tags former team with long ball

Machado went 1-for-3 with a home run and two total RBI in a loss to the Dodgers on Monday.

Machado accounted for the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly off Shohei Ohtani in the first inning. The veteran third baseman tacked on a 353-foot solo shot in the sixth, but his individual contributions weren't enough to provide San Diego with a win. Machado is in the midst of a strong June, as he's posted a .996 OPS with five home runs, 20 RBI, nine runs and a stolen base through 15 games this month.

  • Paul DeJong 3B | WAS

Nationals' Paul DeJong: Cleared for rehab assignment

DeJong (orbital) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Harrisburg on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

He was cleared to play in rehab games after meeting with the doctor who performed the surgery in late April to repair DeJong's sinuses and orbital plate. Considering how much time he's missed, the veteran infielder will likely require a handful of rehab contests before returning from the 10-day injured list. Prior to getting injured, DeJong had been serving as the Nationals' primary option at third base, but he could end up filling more of a utility role upon his return from the IL if top prospect Brady House -- who is set to be promoted from Triple-A Rochester on Monday -- performs well enough in his first taste of the big leagues to hold down a full-time role at the hot corner.

  • Braves' Nacho Alvarez: Activated and optioned

Atlanta activated Alvarez (wrist) from the 60-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Alvarez has recovered from the wrist injury that initially cropped up in late February, but he will stick around with Gwinnett, where he had been on a rehab assignment. The 22-year-old will play regularly all over the infield at Gwinnett.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | COL

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Hot stretch continues

McMahon went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Sunday against Atlanta.

McMahon popped his 10th home run of the season in the seventh inning. Four of those long balls have come across his last seven starts and eight appearances, and he's also chipped in six RBI and six runs scored in that span. After a slow start to the campaign, McMahon suddenly has a .733 OPS and .179 ISO across 282 plate appearances.
