Week 1 is over, and now you're looking at your roster wondering what to do, especially if you lost. It's too early to make wholesale changes, but you also want to know who is worth adding and at what position.

That's what Playing the Waiver Wire is for. Each week in this space we address players to add and drop at all positions in different types of leagues.

A few tweaks for our faithful followers. Instead of just showing you players I'm looking at, we'll also focus on the players you're most interested in using the Roster Trends and the Most Viewed list on CBSSports.com.

For this week, the five free agents most viewed are Patriots receiver Julian Edelman (11 percent ownership on CBSSports.com), Lions running back Joique Bell (57 percent), Giants running back Da'Rel Scott (2 percent), Broncos tight end Julius Thomas (38 percent) and Vikings receiver Jerome Simpson (1 percent).

Edelman, Bell and Thomas are must add players depending on what you need, and Scott and Simpson fall into the "maybe add" category. The player I'm targeting the most this week is Edelman. He has the chance to be a significant contributor for the Patriots all season after he had seven catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns on nine targets at Buffalo.

Thomas would be next on my list with his performance against the Ravens on Thursday night with five catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns on seven targets. He could easily be a starting tight end in the majority of leagues for the rest of this year.

Bell is the No. 2 running back for the Lions behind Reggie Bush, but Bell had a stellar Week 1 outing against the Vikings with six carries for 25 yards and two touchdowns and five catches for 67 yards. The Lions will continue to use Bell at the goal line, and Bush also dislocated a finger and hurt his groin in Week 1. He should be fine, but if Bush does miss any time this year then Bell could be a star. Mikel Leshoure isn't a factor at this point.

Scott did well filling in for David Wilson on Sunday night after Wilson had fumble issues with five carries for 23 yards and five catches for 51 yards on eight targets, but it's not like Wilson is hurt. And the Giants plan to sign a running back Tuesday (maybe Willis McGahee).

Simpson was fantastic against the Lions with seven catches for 140 yards on eight targets, but I'm not sure this passing game can help Simpson flourish. Greg Jennings, Kyle Rudolph and Cordarrelle Patterson did nothing in Week 1, and when they get going, Simpson could disappear.

Editor's note: Must add is for players worth adding in all leagues. Maybe add is for players worth adding in 14-team leagues or larger. Desperation add is for players worth adding only if you're, well, desperate. The percentage listed is how many leagues that player was owned in the previous week in CBSSports.com leagues.

Quarterbacks

The Drop List for Week 2
Below are 12 players who are owned in at least 30 percent of leagues on CBSSports.com that owners can consider dropping.
Player Own %
1. Zach Sudfeld, TE, Patriots 83
2. Sidney Rice, WR, Seahawks 73
3. Isaac Redman, RB, Steelers 68
4. Ryan Broyles, WR, Lions 58
5. Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Vikings 55
6. Andre Brown, RB, Giants 47
7. Jermaine Gresham, TE, Bengals 41
8. Brandon LaFell, WR, Panthers 34
9. Aaron Dobson, WR, Patriots 34
10. Jacoby Jones, WR, Ravens 34
11. Mikel Leshoure, RB, Lions 30
12. Greg Little, WR, Browns 30

Must add: None
Maybe add: Josh Freeman, Buccaneers (60 percent), Philip Rivers, Chargers (57 percent), Alex Smith, Chiefs (55 percent), Terrelle Pryor, Raiders (17 percent)
Desperation add: EJ Manuel, Bills (34 percent), Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins (34 percent), Geno Smith, Jets (13 percent), Chad Henne, Jaguars (2 percent)

We're not into the bye weeks yet, and no quarterback suffered a significant injury, which means adding a quarterback in most standard leagues isn't necessary. If you want to gamble on someone then Pryor would be the best option -- maybe he's the next Cam Newton? He played well at the Colts with 219 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions and 13 carries for 112 yards. He would be someone to speculate on if you're looking ahead, and in two-quarterback leagues definitely add him for this week at home against the Jaguars. ... Smith did well against the Jaguars in his first game with the Chiefs, passing for 173 yards and two touchdowns and four carries for 25 yards. He didn't have to throw much in a blowout win, but the Chiefs are going to be a high-volume passing team under Andy Reid, which should help Smith. ... Freeman has some upside this week against the Saints at home. Last year against New Orleans at home he passed for 420 yards and three touchdowns. ... Rivers had a great debut in Mike McCoy's offense Monday night against the Texans and might still have something left to help Fantasy owners.

Running backs

Must add: Joique Bell, Lions (57 percent), Knowshon Moreno, Broncos (50 percent)
Maybe add: Bilal Powell, Jets (63 percent), Daniel Thomas, Dolphins (44 percent), Knile Davis, Chiefs (42 percent), Isaiah Pead, Rams (33 percent), Jonathan Dwyer, Steelers (15 percent), LeGarrette Blount, Patriots (13 percent), Da'Rel Scott, Giants (2 percent)
Desperation add: Alfonso Smith, Cardinals (4 percent), Willis McGahee, free agent (2 percent), Leon Washington, Patriots (0 percent), Jackie Battle, Titans (0 percent)

The only significant injury we had at running back this week was Shane Vereen (wrist), but there's no direct replacement for him. The Patriots will likely go back to Stevan Ridley despite his fumble issues, and we could see more from Blount and Washington. Neither should be high priorities heading into Week 2 against the Jets. ... Moreno is worth adding in all leagues because of his role with the Broncos. He started Week 1 against the Ravens and will continue to work on passing downs for the foreseeable future. He only had nine carries for 28 yards and three catches for 37 yards on three targets, but he's worth stashing on your bench. ... The Steelers are bringing back Dwyer after Isaac Redman struggled against the Titans and LaRod Stephens-Howling (ACL) got hurt. You can speculate on Dwyer in deeper leagues, but the Steelers need Le'Veon Bell (foot) to get healthy soon. ... Powell and Thomas have minimal upside, but they will get touches for the Jets and Dolphins, respectively. Each could eventually be useful bye-week replacements. ... Pead comes back from suspension this week and could be worth stashing, especially if you own Daryl Richardson. ... Jamaal Charles (quad) was banged up against the Jaguars, but he should be fine. Still, if you own Charles, grab Davis now.

Wide receivers

Streamers for Week 2
Here are some DST and kickers to consider if you play the matchups with these positions each week.
Opponent Own %
Cowboys DST at Kansas City 42
Panthers DST at Buffalo 15
Eagles DST vs. San Diego 9
David Akers, K, Lions at Arizona 67
Robbie Gould, K, Bears vs. Minnesota 47
Caleb Sturgis, K, Dolphins at Indianapolis 9

Must add: Rueben Randle, Giants (58 percent), Kenny Stills, Saints (25 percent), Andre Roberts, Cardinals (19 percent), Nate Burleson, Lions (15 percent), Julian Edelman, Patriots (11 percent), Marlon Brown, Ravens (3 percent)
Maybe add: Brian Hartline, Dolphins (58 percent), Rod Streater, Raiders (17 percent), Robert Woods, Bills (14 percent), Donnie Avery, Chiefs (14 percent), Brandon Gibson, Dolphins (6 percent), Leonard Hankerson, Redskins (5 percent), Doug Baldwin, Seahawks (2 percent), Jerome Simpson, Vikings (1 percent), Eddie Royal, Chargers (1 percent)
Desperation add: Jermaine Kearse, Seahawks (1 percent), Harry Douglas, Falcons (1 percent), Jerricho Cotchery, Steelers (1 percent), Andre Caldwell, Broncos (0 percent), Junior Hemingway, Chiefs (0 percent)

Randle might be the third receiver for the Giants, but he had as many catches as Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks (five) and all three had over 100 yards. Randle had six targets and could be involved in a shootout in Week 2 against the Broncos. ... Stills only had two catches against the Falcons, but he had 86 yards on five targets. That was one more target than Lance Moore, and Stills is a home-run threat in a big-play offense. ... Larry Fitzgerald was the star Sunday for the Cardinals, and Michael Floyd had the highlight-reel catch. But Roberts led the Cardinals in receiving yards (97) and matched Fitzgerald in catches (eight). He also saw nine targets and is overlooked in all leagues. ... The Lions need a second receiver to step up opposite Calvin Johnson, and Burleson has that role for now. He had six catches for 78 yards against the Vikings on six targets, and Matthew Stafford will continue to rely on him with Johnson seeing constant double teams. ... Jacoby Jones (knee) is out for at least a month, meaning Brown is the starter opposite Torrey Smith. He had four catches for 65 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos and should be considered a sleeper this week against the Browns. ... Hartline and Gibson have potential in PPR leagues, but we'll see how they do once Mike Wallace gets going. The duo had 25 targets against the Browns with 16 catches for 191 yards and a touchdown. Wallace, meanwhile, was held to one catch for 15 yards on five targets. ... Streater was Pryor's favorite weapon against the Colts with five catches for 70 yards on eight targets. That should continue, and keep an eye on him going forward. ... Hankerson had a huge game Monday night against the Eagles with five catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns on seven targets, but it was in a frantic comeback effort. I'd encourage adding him, but I'm not sure if he can sustain this level of production. It would help if the Redskins made him a starter ahead of Josh Morgan. ... Baldwin and Kearse are worth monitoring because Russell Wilson needs weapons, and both played well against the Panthers. Baldwin has the higher ceiling since he had seven catches for 91 yards on eight targets. ... Royal, like Hankerson, scored two touchdowns Monday night against the Texans. And like Hankerson, don't get overexcited about it, but he is worth keeping an eye on going forward.

Tight ends

Must add: Julius Thomas, Broncos (38 percent)
Maybe add: Brent Celek, Eagles (33 percent), Dwayne Allen, Colts (16 percent), Dallas Clark, Ravens (7 percent), Kellen Winslow, Jets (3 percent)
Desperation add: Garrett Graham, Texans (1 percent), Charles Clay, Dolphins (1 percent), Joseph Fauria, Lions (0 percent), Jordan Reed, Redskins (0 percent)

Winslow looked healthy in Week 1 against the Buccaneers, which is the most important thing. If he can stay on the field he can produce, and Geno Smith needs weapons. Winslow had seven catches for 79 yards and a touchdown on eight targets. ... Celek had two catches for 56 yards and a touchdown on three targets Monday night, and he could see more action when the Eagles are forced to pass. Keep him on your radar. ... Clark was a huge surprise against the Broncos when he led the Ravens with seven catches and 12 targets. He finished with 87 yards but dropped a touchdown. He's worth following to see if the targets remain high, then you can add him.
