3m agoSoderblom is set to guard the home goal in Saturday's preseason game against St. Louis, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Although Chicago is technically the home team, the exhibition contest is taking place in Milwaukee. Soderblom had a 5-22-2 record, 3.92 GAA and .879 save percentage across 32 games with Chicago in 2023-24. Petr Mrazek will enter the 2024-25 campaign as the Blackhawks' starting goaltender while Soderblom is set to be the understudy.

Rangers' Brennan Othmann: Sent to AHL Hartford

Othmann made his NHL debut last season, playing in three regular-season games with nary a point. The 16th overall pick in 2021, Othmann had 21 goals and 28 assists in 67 regular-season games with AHL Hartford in 2023-24. He should get some time in the NHL this year as the Rangers regard him highly.

Hirose had been dealing with a concussion, but his demotion suggests he's been cleared to play. During the 2023-24 regular season, he had two assists in 33 outings with Abbotsford as well as no points, three hits and five blocks in three appearances with Vancouver.

Mackey played only one game for the Rangers in 2023-24, picking up a fighting major and three blocked shots. The 28-year-old spent most of the 2023-24 campaign at AHL Hartford, where he had two goals and nine points in 44 regular-season contests.

The winger also played a game with Seattle, but he didn't hit the scoresheet. Lind inked a two-way deal with Dallas in the offseason and is set to star with AHL Texas, should he pass through waivers.

He didn't record a point in 17 NHL regular-season outings with Montreal last year. White will probably return to the minors after Saturday's preseason finale. He has an AHL-only deal with the Barracuda for the 2024-25 campaign.

He has been on a downward slope as far as points-per-game are concerned, over the last four seasons and it could continue for the 36-year-old.

Benson played through the injury Friday when he managed 17:23 of ice time including 4:32 on the power play. He was unable to go Saturday. The Sabres will face the Kings at home on Thursday. Consider the 19-year-old, who had 11 goals and 30 points in 71 regular-season games last season, day-to-day.

2h agoPeterka sustained a concussion in Saturday's 3-1 loss to New Jersey, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Peterka was injured in the first period following a hard hit from Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon. The 22-year-old Peterka left the contest and didn't return but will travel home to Buffalo with his teammates. If he is unavailable for a week due to concussion protocol, the talented forward could miss Thursday's home opener versus the Kings. Jordan Greenway or Jiri Kulich could replace Peterka on the top line.

Allen wasn't tested much Saturday - the shots were 37-18 in favor of the Devils. But he was strong when he needed to be. Allen has the skills to be a strong and busy back-up behind Jakob Markstrom and a playoff-bound Devils squad. He'll be an effective daily play who gets upward of 30 starts.

No, he didn't get the win, but Levi showed his skills on a world stage. And those skills are elite. Levi was one of the best players on the ice, and he was the reason the score only favored the Devils by two. His mates only mustered 18 shots on Jake Allen at the other end. Levi won't be the top dog in Buffalo this season or perhaps even next. But this young man is the future in the city of fires.
