Player Outlook
Freddie Freeman was already great but got better because he jumped in on the steals fun last year. Freeman's other numbers were as amazing as they always were as he continues to produce at a Hall of Fame pace but added cherry on top by steals as many bases in 2023 as he did over the three previous seasons combined. Freeman's 23 steals was a great reminder that sprint speed is not everything for steals as Freeman's sprint speed was in the bottom third of the league. We raise that point because that is about the only risk in this area is that he is slowing down and the steals will continue eventually fade as Freeman continues to progress into his mid 30's. There is no doubt Freeman is a first round pick; the only doubt is how high he is taken in the first round . He outearned everyone not named Acuna Jr or Olson and sits very high on our 2024 projections and when you throw in the fact Freeman has avoided the IL since 2017, he is the epitome of a safe first round foundation.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Swipes bag in loss

Freeman went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run against Pittsburgh in a loss Wednesday. Freeman has been much less active on the basepaths this season -- he's attempted just four steals (with three successes) after going 23-for-24 last year. That 2023 performance was likely an aberration, as the 23 thefts were 10 more than his previous career-high mark. Freeman's other numbers are mostly down so far this season as well, but he's still been quite productive with a .294/.397/.476 slash line, seven homers, 17 doubles, 35 RBI and and 36 runs through 63 contests.

Freeman went 1-for-1 with a solo home run, three walks, two RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Rockies. Freeman went yard in the first inning and added a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The three walks he drew Sunday matched his total of free passes from his previous 13 games. Freeman's at a 13.4 percent walk rate on the year to go along with an equally impressive 16.0 percent strikeout rate. The first baseman has a .293/.399/.477 slash line with seven homers, 35 RBI, 35 runs scored, two steals, 16 doubles and two triples over 61 contests. While his numbers are down pretty much across the board, Freeman remains one of the most consistent hitters in baseball in the heart of a powerful lineup.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Slugs grand slam in win

Freeman went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Monday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks. The homer was Freeman's first since May 11 and his third in May. He gave the Dodgers the lead in the third inning, and they never looked back. Freeman is up to five long balls, 29 RBI, 31 runs scored, one stolen base and a .298/.409/.464 slash line through 50 contests. He's not hitting for as much power as he did last year, when he racked up 29 homers, 59 doubles and a .567 slugging percentage, but there's little to complain about from what the first baseman's provided so far in 2024.
