Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Heads to IL with hip impingement
The Yankees placed LeMahieu on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right hip impingement.
The transaction is retroactive to Friday, though LeMahieu hadn't appeared in any games for the Yankees since last Tuesday. The 36-year-old had put together a modest five-game hit streak prior to landing on the IL, but he wasn't in store for meaningful playing time at either of the corner-infield spots with Anthony Rizzo and Jazz Chisholm locked in as starters at first and third base, respectively.

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Drawing start in series finale
LeMahieu (face) will start at first base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Rockies.
LeMahieu had been included in the initial lineup for Friday's series opener while lefty Kyle Freeland was scheduled to start for Colorado, but the Yankees scratched the veteran infielder after he was hit in the face by a baseball during pregame warmups. Fortunately for LeMahieu, he sustained only cosmetic damage to his face, as he cleared concussion protocol. LeMahieu will be back in the lineup for the series finale as a replacement for the lefty-hitting Ben Rice at first base while the Rockies go with another left-handed starter (Austin Gomber).

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Clears concussion protocol
Manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that LeMahieu's condition has improved and he's cleared concussion protocol, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.
LeMahieu was scratched from the Yankees' lineup Friday after taking a ball off his face during pregame warmups, though he escaped with just bruising. He'll remain out of the lineup for Saturday's contest but should be able to return to action within the next few days.

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Precautionarily scratched
LeMahieu was hit in the face by a ball during warmups and was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Rockies, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
LeMahieu appeared to be fine after the incident, but the Yankees will play it safe and give him the night off. The 35-year-old was slated to play first base and bat ninth, but both of those slots will be filled by Ben Rice instead. LeMahieu should be considered day-to-day.
