  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: IL stint not ruled out

Arcia is still not eating solid food after having an abscessed tooth pulled, and Atlanta might wind up placing him on the injured list, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The shortstop is fighting an infection he developed before the tooth was extracted. "All he's getting in him right now, is kind of the [protein] shakes and soup and things like that," manager Brian Snitker said Thursday. "So we were hoping we could maybe get him over here today and move around a little bit. We'll get him out here [Friday]." Arcia hasn't played since June 30 and slashed just .155/.217/.238 through 92 plate appearances last month. While Atlanta remains optimistic he could return to the lineup in short order, per MLB.com his availability for this weekend's series against the Phillies is in doubt.

Arcia is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants. Arcia missed two games last week due to dizziness before returning to play the last four contests. He hasn't suffered any known setback, so this would appear to be a routine day of rest. Zack Short will fill in at shortstop.

  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Returning Thursday

Arcia (head) will start at shortstop Thursday against the White Sox, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Arcia has been held out of action since being pulled from Monday's game due to dizziness. • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Out for Game 1 of twin bill

Arcia (head) is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Cardinals. Before Tuesday's game was rained out, Atlanta manager Brian Snitker disclosed that Arcia still wasn't feeling well after exiting Monday's 4-3 loss due to dizziness. Snitker didn't entirely rule Arcia out for both games of the twin bill, but it wouldn't be surprising if Atlanta opted to give the veteran shortstop the full day off to recover. Zack Short will cover shortstop in Arcia's stead in the first game of the day.

  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Could miss multiple days

Arcia (head) got checked out at a local hospital Tuesday after continuing to feel unwell Monday night, and while tests came back negative, the shortstop could be sidelined for multiple days, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. "We'll probably give him two or three days," manager Brian Snitker said prior to Tuesday's game in St. Louis being rained out. Arcia left Monday's 4-3 loss to St. Louis due to dizziness that was initially attributed to dehydration, although no official diagnosis has been announced. Atlanta is set to play a doubleheader Wednesday against the Cardinals following the rainout, but Arcia could end up sitting for the entire twin bill if he's still not feeling 100 percent. Zack Short will handle shortstop duties until he's ready to return, and Luke Williams was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday to provide depth at the position.

  • Braves' Orlando Arcia: Likely sitting Tuesday

Manager Brian Snitker stated that the team will probably give Arcia (head) Tuesday off, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Arcia received fluids after leaving Monday's game due to dizziness and didn't appear to be feeling well in the clubhouse afterward, per Toscano. "Just probably dehydrated, I guess," said Snitker. "I don't know. I know they gave him fluids, so we'll probably put him down tomorrow and let him regroup and see where he's at." Zack Short would be the obvious choice for a start at shortstop Tuesday in Arcia's place.
