  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Out against southpaw

McMahon is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies. The Phillies are sending tough left-hander Jesus Luzardo to the bump, so the left-handed-hitting McMahon will receive a rare day off. Aaron Schunk is at third base and hitting ninth for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Leaves yard again Sunday

McMahon went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, two walks and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Padres. McMahon capped off his strong weekend with a solo home run in the eighth to extend the Rockies lead. He's now homered four times this month and has raised his OPS to .736 after posting a .508 OPS in March/April. In his last seven games, McMahon is hitting .500/.607/1.091 with a 6:5 BB:K. He's notoriously been more effective in Denver and will aim to keep his hot bat going this week despite the Rockies having all their games on the road.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Stays hot

McMahon went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and three runs scored Friday against the Padres. McMahon still has an abysmal overall line for the season, but he has improved across his last eight games. He's gone 11-for-27 with three homers, six RBI and eight runs scored in that span, while striking out only 18.8 percent of the time.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Heating up at plate

McMahon went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, a walk, two total runs and two total RBI in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to the Tigers. McMahon and Michael Toglia teamed up to notch all six of the Rockies' extra-base hits Wednesday, though the pair's performance wasn't enough to upset Detroit. McMahon endured an awful start to the season, batting just .147 with a mere four RBI over 29 games through the end of April. However, the veteran third baseman has begun to turn things around in May -- he's hit safely and driven in at least one run in four of five contests this month, and he's notched five extra-base hits (two doubles, a triple and two homers) in that span.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Gets back into RBI column

McMahon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Giants. It was a much-needed homer for McMahon, who hadn't recorded an RBI since April 9. During this time, the defensive-minded third baseman has gone a miserable 5-for-65 (.077) with two doubles and seven runs scored over 19 games. McMahon's defensive acumen should keep him in an everyday role at the hot corner, but he's difficult to justify as a fantasy option until he strings together some better performances.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Sitting Sunday

McMahon is not in Colorado's starting lineup against Cincinnati on Sunday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. McMahon has failed to record a hit over his last seven games and has gone 2-for-50 with a 41.7 percent strikeout rate since April 11. Amid his struggles, McMahon will begin Sunday's contest in the dugout while Kyle Farmer starts at the hot corner and bats fifth against Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Hitting well during first homestand

McMahon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Wednesday against the Brewers. McMahon went yard in the third inning to deliver his second home run of the year. He's riding a six-game hitting streak, with five of those contests coming at Coors Field. In that span, he's maintained a .333 average with four RBI and a pair of runs scored.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Drills first homer of campaign

McMahon went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Saturday in a loss to the Athletics. McMahon cut Colorado's deficit to three runs with an eighth-inning solo shot to center field, but that was the final run scored by either team. The long ball was the first of the season for the veteran third baseman, who has slugged between 20 and 24 homers each of the past five full seasons (excluding the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign). McMahon's two-hit effort Saturday was his first multi-hit performance since he went 3-for-3 on Opening Day.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Reaches base four times in loss

McMahon went 3-for-3 with a double, two singles and a walk in a 3-2 loss to the Rays on Friday. The third baseman was a problem for Tampa pitching and should benefit from hitting behind Brenton Doyle and Ezequiel Tovar in the Colorado lineup. McMahon has hit 20-plus homers every year since 2019 -- except for the pandemic-shortened 2020 season in which he hit nine in 52 games.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Taking seat versus southpaw

McMahon is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks are sending southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez to the hill in the matinee, so the left-handed-hitting McMahon will begin the game on the bench. Aaron Schunk is at third base and batting ninth for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Belts 19th homer

McMahon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Tigers. The Rockies were in a 6-0 hole after the first inning, but McMahon got them on the board in the top of the second by taking Casey Mize deep. McMahon has emerged from his post-All-Star break malaise, and over his last 16 games he's slashing a respectable .262/.328/.426 with three homers, four runs and six RBI. His next long ball will give the 29-year-old his fourth straight 20-homer campaign.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Connects for 18th home run

McMahon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-2 loss against the Brewers. McMahon took Tobias Myers deep in the fourth inning for his 18th homer of the season. McMahon got off to a great start this season but has struggled mightily over the second half. The 29-year-old made his first All-Star game in July but has just four of his 18 homers since the break and is hitting .187/.305/.302 in that stretch.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Out against left-hander

McMahon is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Atlanta. It's lefty Chris Sale on the bump for Atlanta, so it's a good spot for the left-handed hitting McMahon to get a breather. Aaron Schunk will play third base and bat ninth for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Swats decisive homer

McMahon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win against Miami. McMahon had the only extra-base hit by either team in the contest, and it was a big one, as his sixth-inning, 438-foot solo shot broke a 2-2 tie and ended up providing the decisive margin of victory. The long ball snapped a 20-game homerless streak for the infielder, and he had batted a meager .155 with a 31.3 percent strikeout rate during the power drought. McMahon now has 17 home runs overall this season, putting him on pace to reach the 20-homer mark for the fourth consecutive campaign.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Productive close to weekend series

McMahon went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a walk Sunday against the Yankees. McMahon delivered an RBI double in the fifth inning, snapping a nine-game stretch during which he didn't tally an extra-base hit. While his overall stat line is comparable to past seasons, McMahon has had a disastrous August by hitting .147 with a 31.6 percent strikeout rate across 19 games.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Taking seat Thursday

McMahon is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Nationals. The Nationals are sending southpaw Patrick Corbin to the hill in Thursday's matinee, presenting an opportunity to give the left-handed-hitting McMahon some rest. Aaron Schunk will handle third base for the Rockies.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Hitting bench Wednesday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. With the Rockies and Diamondbacks concluding their series with a day game after a night game and with a southpaw (Jordan Montgomery) on the hill for Arizona, the lefty-hitting McMahon will be given a breather. McMahon had a pair of two-hit games against Atlanta over the weekend but has fallen back into his post-All-Star-break lull at the plate so far in Arizona, as he went 0-for-8 with four strikeouts through the first two games of the series. He's now batting just .119 with a 32.1 percent strikeout rate in the second half.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Lifts three-run homer

McMahon went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 10-7 loss to the Angels. McMahon's blast gave the Rockies a 6-2 advantage in the second inning, but they didn't hold the lead for long. The infielder has gone 15 games without a multi-hit effort, batting a poor .170 in that span, though he has drawn 11 walks. For the season, he's at a .262/.348/.440 slash line with 16 homers, 50 RBI, 51 runs scored, 21 doubles and three stolen bases over 104 contests. After staying put at the trade deadline, McMahon should continue to occupy a starting role in the heart of the lineup.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Sitting Game 1

McMahon is out of the lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Giants. With southpaw Blake Snell on the mound for the Giants in Game 1, the lefty-hitting McMahon will head to the bench. Aaron Schunk will bat ninth and play third base during the matinee, though McMahon should be back in the lineup for the nightcap against right-hander Hayden Birdsong.

  • Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Homers in return

McMahon went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday against Boston. McMahon missed one game after jamming his finger Monday, but he returned Wednesday to tally his 15th home run of the season. He also ended a homer drought, as his previous long ball had come on June 22. In that span, McMahon managed to hit .259, but he had only five RBI and nine runs scored across 24 games.
