It's damning with faint praise, but Tyler Glasnow threw a career-high 120 innings as a 29-year-old in his final year with the Rays. Coming into 2023, Glasnow had never avoided the injured list around stretches of brilliance where he looks downright unhittable. He then has bouts of command issues where he struggles with fastball location and lineups jump on him. The extra pain point in 2023 was created with the new rules as his 6-foot-8 frame leverages long extension and a slow delivery to the plate which leaves him susceptible to steals - he permitted 19 steals in 2023. He also hit the IL at the start of the season with an oblique issue and had back spasms again later in the summer. The Dodgers traded for him and then extended him this offseason, so he should have excellent run support for the foreseeable future and there are no questions about where he will be pitching. He clearly has the stuff of an ace and will look to increase his career high in innings again, but he averaged less than 65 MLB innings per season prior to last year, so make sure you're not reliant on him staying healthy all season.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Walks four in loss

Glasnow (8-6) took the loss against the Giants on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out four. Glasnow struggled with his command a bit in his return to the rotation, issuing walks in each of the first three innings before surrendering a leadoff homer to Matt Chapman to open the fourth. The right-hander threw just eight of his 21 first pitches for strikes while matching his season high with four free passes. On a positive note, Glasnow was able to get through five frames without any apparent setbacks and still managed to produce 10 whiffs despite his command issues. He's now allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last eight starts.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Reinstated from IL

Glasnow (back) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday ahead of his start against the Giants. Back tightness forced Glasnow onto the IL on July 9, but he'll now return to the Dodgers' rotation following a minimum-length stay. The 30-year-old righty reached 58 pitches while throwing three simulated innings Friday, though it's possible he works under some sort of restriction during his first start back. Landon Knack was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Returning from IL on Wednesday

Glasnow (back) will return from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Giants, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Earlier Saturday, manager Dave Roberts accidentally said that Glasnow would start Thursday and Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) would start Wednesday, but the two pitchers will actually flip spots in the pitching schedule. Glasnow didn't go on a minor-league rehab assignment after being placed on the IL shortly before the All-Star break, but he should be able to provide the Dodgers with plenty of length in his return to the rotation after he threw 58 pitches across three simulated innings Friday. Even so, Glasnow will likely be operating on some sort of restriction with his pitch count Wednesday in his return to the Dodgers rotation.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: To start Thursday

Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Glasnow (back) will return from the 15-day injured list to start Thursday's game against the Giants, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. After throwing 58 pitches over three simulated innings Friday, Glasnow said that he expected to return to the rotation Wednesday, but the Dodgers will wait an extra day before activating him. Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) will return from the 60-day injured list to make his season debut for the Dodgers on Wednesday, while Glasnow gets the ball for the series finale Thursday. The 30-year-old Glasnow turned in a 3.47 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP with 143 strikeouts across 109 innings before landing on the IL on July 9 with lower-back tightness.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Could return Wednesday

After throwing a simulated game Friday at Dodger Stadium, Glasnow (back) said that he thinks he will start Wednesday against the Giants, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Per Stephen, Glasnow threw 58 pitches across three simulated innings to Jason Heyward (knee), Gavin Lux and James Outman, and the 31-year-old righty doesn't appear to need a rehab assignment prior to returning to the Dodgers' rotation. Before landing on the 15-day injured list July 9 due to lower back tightness, Glasnow was 8-5 over 18 starts with a 3.47 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across 109 innings.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Faced hitters Friday

Glasnow (back) threw a simulated game Friday at Dodger Stadium, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Glasnow faced hitters for the first time since being placed on the injured list July 9 due to lower back pain, throwing roughly 60 pitches per Stephen. The 30-year-old will become eligible to return from the IL early next week, and he could start during a four-game series against the Giants that begins Monday. Glasnow has posted a 3.47 ERA with a 143:29 K:BB across 109 innings this season.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Placed on IL with back tightness

The Dodgers placed Glasnow on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to lower back tightness, retroactive to July 6. Glasnow's back flared up Sunday while playing catch, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, and his placement on the injured list means he will miss the All-Star game, with Reds right-hander Hunter Greene taking his spot. Glasnow was originally slated to pitch Thursday against the Phillies, but Landon Knack will now take to the mound for the series finale. If Glasnow returns right after the 15-day minimum, he would be lined up to start in the series finale against the Red Sox on July 21. The 30-year-old is 8-5 over 13 starts this season with a 3.47 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 143:29 K:BB over 109 innings.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Heading to IL with back tightness

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Glasnow will be placed on the 15-day injured list with back tightness, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. Glasnow has allowed five runs in two straight outings, but it appears his back began bothering him Sunday while he was playing catch. Roberts said that the hope is it's a minor issue and the right-hander can return shortly after the All-Star break. If that happens, he could miss just one start. Justin Wrobleski had been slated to return to the minors, but he's now likely to fill Glasnow's next turn.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Second straight poor start

Glasnow allowed five runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision versus the Brewers on Friday. All of the damage came in the fourth inning between a Willy Adames RBI single and a Rhys Hoskins grand slam. Glasnow has allowed five runs in back-to-back starts, though he's avoided the loss in both of those outings. For the season, he has a 3.47 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 143:29 K:BB through 109 innings over 18 starts. He's projected to make his next start at Detroit rather than Philadelphia due to the Dodgers inserting Justin Wrobleski into the rotation for a spot start Sunday.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Chased early in no-decision

Glasnow did not factor into the decision against the Giants on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over three innings while striking out one. Glasnow didn't have his best stuff Saturday, allowing the leadoff man to reach in each of his three innings of work while surrendering four extra-base hits. It marked the right-hander's shortest outing of the campaign and the second time in his last four starts that he's given up five runs. Glasnow also struck out only one batter in the contest, a season low, after fanning at least nine in four straight starts coming in.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Strikes out 10 in victory

Glasnow (8-5) picked up the win over the Angels on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits over seven innings while striking out 10. Glasnow got off to a great start, going 1-2-3 through each of the first three innings while striking out five of the first 11 batters he faced. He would allow just one unearned run over the first six frames before leaving a slider up in the zone in the seventh, which Logan O'Hoppe launched into the stands for a solo shot. Glasnow has been spectacular as of late, with the exception of his road outing against the Yankees three starts back, allowing no more than three hits in four of his last five outings. He's also posted double-digit strikeouts in two of his last three starts and now carries a 40:4 K:BB in June to go along with a 2.42 ERA.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Strikes out 12 in loss

Glasnow (6-5) took the loss Sunday against the Yankees, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out 12 in six innings. Nearly all the damage against Glasnow came via the long ball. The Yankees opened up the scoring with a solo home run in the third and tacked on an additional run before the inning ended. Trent Grisham later slugged a three-run blast in the sixth to put the Yankees up 5-3 and they would not relinquish the lead from there. The eight hits allowed tied Glasnow's season high and he's now given up at least a home run in five of his last six starts, though it was also his fifth time striking out at least 10 hitters. The 30-year-old will carry a 3.24 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 116:24 K:BB (86 innings) into his next start, which projects to be against the Royals over the weekend.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Excellent again in hard-luck loss

Glasnow (6-4) was stuck with the loss Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six innings. Jack Suwinski's solo home run in the third inning was the lone tally against Glasnow, though it proved to be enough to leave him with the loss in a 1-0 shutout defeat. Still, it was another strong outing from the 30-year-old Glasnow, who now has eight or more strikeouts in seven of his last eight starts. His ERA is down to 2.93 on the year with a 0.90 WHIP and a league-leading 104 strikeouts through 13 starts (80 innings). Glasnow's currently lined up for an intriguing road matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

Glasnow (6-2) was tagged with the loss against the Arizona on Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six over five innings. Glasnow cruised through the first four innings before allowing three consecutive batters to reach base with one out in the fifth, eventually leading to three runs coming across for Arizona. He would make it through the frame but didn't return for the sixth, marking the second straight start in which he's been unable to make it through at least six innings. The right-hander is now 1-2 in May after going 5-1 in his first six decisions to open the campaign. However, he still sports a healthy 34:5 K:BB through four starts this month.

The Reds would get to Glasnow again in the third and fifth innings, marking only the second time this season he's allowed four or more runs in an outing. The right-hander had logged four consecutive quality starts coming into Thursday and still carries a 3.32 ERA in May to go along with a 28:4 K:BB. He's also struck out at least eight batters in five straight starts.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Excellent in no-decision

Glasnow allowed a run on one hit and two walks while striking out 10 over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Friday. Glasnow was excellent, with the one hit against him being a Luis Campusano solo home run in the third inning. This was the fourth time this season Glasnow has struck out 10 or more batters, and it was also his fourth straight quality start. The right-hander trimmed his ERA to 2.53 with a 0.86 WHIP and a 73:15 K:BB over 57 innings across nine starts. Glasnow is dialed in, but his workload will be something to keep an eye on -- he's never pitched more than 120 innings in a season, often due to injuries. He's projected to make his next start in San Francisco.
