Diamondbacks' Aramis Garcia: Removed from 40-man roster
The Diamondbacks designated Garcia for assignment Monday.
The signing of veteran catcher James McCann was made official Monday, so Garcia's presence is no longer required. Garcia accepted an outright assignment by the Diamondbacks earlier this month and could do so again, assuming he clears waivers.

Diamondbacks' Aramis Garcia: Back with big club
The Diamondbacks selected Garcia's contract from Triple-A Reno on Thursday.
Garcia was up with Arizona briefly earlier this month, seeing action in one game as a defensive replacement. He will back up Jose Herrera at catcher while Gabriel Moreno (hand) is on the injured list.

Diamondbacks' Aramis Garcia: Remains in organization
Garcia cleared waivers Tuesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Reno.
Garcia was pushed off Arizona's 40-man roster Sunday to make room for reliever Kyle Backhus, but the former will officially remain with the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Garcia, 32, has slashed .273/.417/.582 with 10 home runs, 20 RBI and 31 runs scored over 139 plate appearances with Reno this season.

Diamondbacks' Aramis Garcia: Cast off 40-man roster
Arizona designated Garcia for assignment Sunday.
He'll give up his spot on the 40-man and 26-man rosters to lefty reliever Kyle Backhus, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Reno. The Diamondbacks called Garcia up from Reno on Saturday while top backstop Gabriel Moreno dealt with a hand issue, but Arizona's decision to drop him from the roster a day later suggests Moreno's injury isn't a concern.

Diamondbacks' Aramis Garcia: Promoted to majors
The Diamondbacks selected Garcia's contract from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
Garcia signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks in November, and in Triple-A this season he is slashing .273/.417/.582 with 10 home runs and 20 RBI in 139 plate appearances. If Gabriel Moreno (hand) is on the shelf for an extended period of time, Garcia would likely serve as Arizona's backup catcher behind Jose Herrera.

Diamondbacks' Aramis Garcia: Signs with Snakes
Garcia signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training.
Garcia struggled to find his footing at the plate in 2024, slashing just .156/.213/.275 across 282 plate appearances with the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate. Now part of the Diamondbacks organization, the 31-year-old backstop will likely remain an organizational depth piece at Triple-A Reno.

Phillies' Aramis Garcia: Outrighted to Triple-A
The Phillies outrighted Garcia to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.
Garcia lost his spot on the 40-man roster but will stick around in the organization as catching depth. The veteran catcher is 0-for-7 at the plate during his brief time with the Phillies this season.

Phillies' Aramis Garcia: DFA'd by Philadelphia
The Phillies designated Garcia for assignment Sunday.
Garcia was promoted to the big club Sept. 7 after J.T. Realmuto suffered a knee injury. Garcia appeared in three games for the Phillies and went 0-for-7 with three strikeouts over that span. The move makes room on the 28-man roster for the reinstatement of third baseman Alec Bohm (hand) from the 10-day injured list.

Phillies' Aramis Garcia: Joining big-league club
The Phillies selected Garcia's contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.
J.T. Realmuto suffered a knee injury Friday against the Marlins and Garcia will come up to provide depth behind the plate. If Realmuto is forced to miss time, Garcia would be in line to share catching duties with Garrett Stubbs. That said, Garcia hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2022 and is slashing .161/.215/.282 with Lehigh Valley this season.

Phillies' Aramis Garcia: Dispatched to minors camp
The Phillies reassigned Garcia to minor-league camp Monday.
Philadelphia sent out Garcia and John Hicks in its latest round of roster cuts, leaving Garrett Stubbs (knee) and Rafael Marchan (wrist) as the lone catchers battling for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart behind JT Realmuto. Stubbs should have the edge on those duties if the knee injury he's been nursing since the World Baseball Classic doesn't prevent him being available for Opening Day, but if neither Stubbs nor Marchan can overcome their lingering health concerns, Garcia could end up being a late addition to the 26-man active roster.

Phillies' Aramis Garcia: Inks NRI deal with Philly
Garcia signed a minor-league contract Thursday with the Phillies that includes an invitation to major-league spring training.
Garcia figures to open the 2023 season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, as J.T. Realmuto and Garrett Stubbs are currently locked in as the big-league catchers for Philadelphia. Garcia, 30, holds a .216/.253/.332 career batting line at the MLB level.

Aramis Garcia: Picks free agency
Garcia elected to become a free agent Friday instead of reporting to Triple-A Norfolk, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.
After being claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Oct. 14, Garcia will test his value on the open market instead of reporting to Norfolk. The catcher appeared in 47 games with the Reds during the 2022 campaign, producing a .213 average with one homer, four RBI and six runs scored over 108 at-bats.

Orioles' Aramis Garcia: Falls off 40-man roster
Garcia was outrighted off Baltimore's 40-man roster and assigned to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.
Garcia was claimed off waivers by Baltimore after the end of the regular season but won't remain on the 40-man roster through the offseason. He appeared in 47 games with the Reds and had a .213/.248/.259 slash line in 115 plate appearances.

Orioles' Aramis Garcia: Claimed by Orioles
Garcia was claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Friday.
Garcia missed much of last year with finger and elbow injuries. When available, he struggled to a .213/.248/.259 slash line across a career-high 47 games for the Reds. Assuming he lasts the winter on Baltimore's 40-man roster, he'll compete to be Adley Rutschman's backup next spring.

Reds' Aramis Garcia: Activated Tuesday
Garcia (finger) was activated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
He ended up missing almost three months a fractured left middle finger but made it back just in time for the final two games of the year. Garcia, 29, was worth 0.0 fWAR in 46 MLB games and has no minor-league options remaining heading into 2023.

Reds' Aramis Garcia: Starts up rehab assignment
Garcia (finger) began a rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Louisville and has gone 2-for-6 with a home run and a walk across his first two games with the affiliate.
Even though Garcia has been out of commission since shortly before the All-Star break due to a fractured finger, the Reds aren't closing the door on him playing again this season, even though Cincinnati enters Monday's series opener in Pittsburgh sitting at 33 games under .500. Since Garcia has thus far caught only seven innings during his rehab assignment, the Reds may want him to play at least one more game behind the plate before activating him from the 60-day injured list. Once reinstated, Garcia could unseat Austin Romine and Chuckie Robinson as the Reds' No. 1 catcher.

Reds' Aramis Garcia: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Reds transferred Garcia (finger) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.
Garcia hasn't seen action for the Reds since July 7, and the move to the 60-day IL ensures he won't be available until at least the second week of September. Though his placement on the IL was initially due to both elbow and finger injuries, it's his rehab from the fractured left middle digit that remains his main focus at this juncture. Garcia has yet to resume full baseball activities and may not be a safe bet to make it back from the IL when first eligible unless he makes meaningful progress in the next week.

Reds' Aramis Garcia: Dealing with fracture in finger
Garcia is dealing with a fracture in his finger and doesn't have a timetable to return, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Garcia has been dealing with finger and elbow injuries over the last month, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to game action now that he's been diagnosed with a fracture in his finger. Michael Papierski and Mark Kolozsvary should continue to serve as the Reds' top options behind the plate while Garcia remains sidelined.

Reds' Aramis Garcia: Transferred back to 10-day IL
Garcia (finger/elbow) was transferred from the COVID-19-related injured list to the 10-day injured list Tuesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Garcia was placed on the COVID-19 IL on July 12, but he will now return to the 10-day IL as he nurses an elbow injury and a finger issue that landed him on the IL on July 7. The catcher will likely start a rehab assignment in the coming days and could return to the Reds in the near future.

Reds' Aramis Garcia: Shifts to COVID IL
The Reds transferred Garcia (finger/elbow) from the 10-day injured list to the COVID-19-related injured list Tuesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Garcia was one of the two Reds to go on the COVID-19 IL on Tuesday, with outfielder Albert Almora also joining him. It's unclear whether Garcia tested positive for the virus or was deemed a close contact of an infected person. The finger and elbow injuries that landed him on the IL last week will be the greater concerns as the 29-year-old works his way back to full health.
