  • Rockies' Drew Romo: Struggling to find playing time

Romo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers. Romo has now picked up just two starts in the Rockies' last seven games. With Jacob Stallings and Hunter Goodman also on hand as options at catcher, Romo is unlikely to see steady enough playing time over the final two weeks of the season to make for a reliable fantasy option, even in NL-only leagues.

  • Rockies' Drew Romo: Sitting Sunday

Romo is absent from Sunday's lineup against Milwaukee, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports. Romo has gone 0-for-12 with six strikeouts over his last four outings, and he will begin Sunday's game on the bench. Hunter Goodman will start behind home plate and bat eighth against Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta.

  • Rockies' Drew Romo: On bench again

Romo is not in Friday's lineup against the Brewers. Romo started four straight games to start the month, but he'll head to the bench for the second game in a row Friday. Both of his absences have come against righties, with Jacob Stallings getting the nod Friday and Hunter Goodman starting Thursday behind the dish.

  • Rockies' Drew Romo: Absent from Colorado lineup

Romo is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Atlanta. Romo was in the lineup for each of the Rockies' last four contests (three at catcher, one at designated hitter), but he will begin this one on the bench. Hunter Goodman is behind the plate for the series finale.

  • Rockies' Drew Romo: Idle Friday

Romo is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Baltimore. Romo will give way to Jacob Stallings behind the dish Friday against Albert Suarez and the Orioles. Romo is 6-for-27 (.222) with a pair of doubles in seven games with Colorado.

  • Rockies' Drew Romo: Getting another start Wednesday

Romo will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's contest versus the Nationals. Romo didn't start the Rockies' first game after being called up last Friday, but he's now been in the lineup for three of four contests since then and tallied his first major-league hit in Tuesday's game. Jacob Stallings still seems likely to play plenty behind the plate as well with Elias Diaz gone from the team.

  • Rockies' Drew Romo: Tallies first career hit

Romo went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts Tuesday against the Nationals. Romo was called up to make his big-league debut Friday and has since made two starts. He collected his first big-league hit Tuesday, and notably he was caught stealing. Romo had only three stolen bases with Triple-A Albuquerque prior to being recalled, but he showed an ability to steal bases in the lower levels of the minors. If he reintroduces stolen bases to his game at the big-league level, he could be an intriguing option in deeper leagues down the stretch.

  • Rockies' Drew Romo: Poised for big-league promotion

The Rockies are expected to call up Romo from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Friday's game against the Padres, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Romo, who turns 23 later this month, has slashed .297/.339/.499 with 14 home runs and three stolen bases over 85 games this season with Albuquerque. With Elias Diaz expected to be released, the switch-hitting Romo will at least share catching duties with Jacob Stallings and could receive the bulk of the reps behind the plate.

  • Rockies' Drew Romo: Reassigned to minor-league camp

Romo was reassigned Tuesday to the minor-league side of Rockies camp. Romo, the 35th overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft out of a high school in Texas, batted just .254/.321/.372 with five home runs over 102 games last season at High-A Spokane. He is only 21 years old and there's a lot to like in his long-term fantasy outlook as a catcher with good speed.
