Guardians' Jhonkensy Noel: Losing work against RHPs
Noel is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins.
Noel will take a seat against a right-handed pitcher (Pablo Lopez) for the second day in a row and may have lost hold of an everyday role in right field while he's struggled to a .125/.176/.250 slash line with a 32.4 percent strikeout rate thus far in September. The lefty-hitting Will Brennan will get the nod in right field Monday and could be set to occupy the strong side of platoon with Noel over the final two weeks of the regular season.

Noel has three homers, six RBI and eight runs scored over his last five contests. Guardians' Jhonkensy Noel: Slugs homer No. 10
Noel went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees.
The rookie spoiled New York's combined shutout bid when he took Tim Mayza deep in the eighth inning. Noel has seized the starting job in right field, going yard four times in the last eight games while batting .320 (8-for-25). Guardians' Jhonkensy Noel: Gaining foothold in everyday lineup
Noel will start in right field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
Noel has largely served as a short-side platoon player since getting a call-up to the Guardians in late June, but after slugging three home runs in two games against the Cubs on Aug. 12 and 13, he's been earning more opportunities against right-handed pitching. He's now started in seven of the last eight games overall, facing off versus five right-handed starters during that span. Unfortunately for Noel, he's gone just 2-for-15 with one extra-base hit (a double) since his home-run binge against the Cubs, but the Guardians still seem content to prioritize him in the regular lineup over David Fry, who was on the bench for each of the last three matchups with righties.

Guardians' Jhonkensy Noel: Homers again Tuesday
Noel went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over the Cubs.
After homering twice Monday, Noel launched a 430-foot bomb off Drew Smyly with two outs in the sixth inning, putting the Guardians ahead 2-1. The 23-year-old Noel is now 4-for-7 with three long balls in his last two games after going just 2-for-13 in his previous six contests. While he's mostly occupied the short side of a platoon in right field with Will Brennan, Noel's impressive power could earn him a more substantial role down the stretch. He's now slashing .265/.311/.627 with nine homers, 17 RBI and 11 runs scored through his first 90 plate appearances.
