  • Mets' Logan Porter: Outrighted to Triple-A

Porter cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse by the Mets on Friday.

Porter joined New York on a major-league contract in mid-July and was designated for assignment Tuesday without appearing in a game. The 29-year-old has also spent time in the Giants and Royals organizations this season, and he has a combined .858 OPS in 57 games at the Triple-A level.

  • Mets' Logan Porter: Designated for assignment

The Mets designated Porter for assignment Tuesday.

Porter is being jettisoned from the 40-man roster to make room for Huascar Brazoban, who was acquired in a trade with Miami on Tuesday. The 29-year-old Porter hasn't played in the majors yet this year, though his .853 OPS in Triple-A could attract some attention on the waiver wire from other clubs in need of organizational depth behind the plate.

  • Mets' Logan Porter: Signs MLB deal with Mets

Porter agreed to a one-year contract with the Mets on Thursday and will be optioned to Triple-A Syracuse, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Porter initiated the opt-out clause in his minor-league contract with the Giants earlier this week, and he's managed to land a big-league deal in a new organization. With Francisco Alvarez and Luis Torrens performing well as the Mets' catching duo, Porter will be assigned to Syracuse where he will provide depth. The 29-year-old is slashing .293/.390/.500 with eight home runs in 53 games this season at the Triple-A level.

  • Giants' Logan Porter: Triggers opt-out clause

Porter has initiated the opt-out clause in his minor-league contract with the Giants, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 in Houston reports.

The Giants can either add him to their 40-man roster or trade him to another team that would add him to its 40-man roster. If neither of those moves happen, Porter must be granted his release. The 29-year-old is slashing .293/.390/.500 with eight homers in 53 games this season at the Triple-A level.

  • Giants' Logan Porter: Traded to San Francisco

The Giants acquired Porter from the Royals on Friday in exchange for cash considerations or a player to be named later.

Porter, 28, saw some spot duty with the Royals last season but has spent all of 2024 at Triple-A Omaha, where he's put up a 1.003 OPS with six homers. He'll give the Giants some catching depth at Triple-A Sacramento.

  • Royals' Logan Porter: Playing-time outlook improves

Porter will start at catcher and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Guardians.

Porter will receive his second straight turn behind the dish and could operate as the Royals' primary backstop for at least the next week after Kansas City placed Salvador Perez (concussion) on the 7-day injured list and transferred Freddy Fermin (finger) to the 60-day IL on Monday. Since getting called up from Triple-A Omaha on Sept. 11, Porter has started his big-league career on a high note, going 4-for-10 with a home run and a double.

  • Royals' Logan Porter: Belts first career homer

Porter went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 10-8 win over the Astros.

Porter began the game on the bench but entered as a result of an injury to Salvador Perez. The veteran catcher left the game in the fifth inning after a Jose Altuve foul tip ricocheted off Perez's facemask, and Porter took over behind the plate one batter later. The 28-year-old took advantage of the opportunity when he ripped a slider from Joel Kuhnel deep to left field for his first career homer in his second MLB game. Perez is thought to have avoided a concussion, but if he misses further action, Porter is the only other healthy backstop on the Royals' roster with MJ Melendez having made a full-time transition to the outfield earlier in the season.

  • Royals' Logan Porter: Officially joins Kansas City

Porter was called up by the Royals on Monday.

It was announced Sunday that Porter would be joining the Royals, and they officially selected his contract from Triple-A Omaha one day later. The 28-year-old will presumably be a part-time player, but he could see action at several different positions, including catcher and first base.

  • Royals' Logan Porter: Set to join major-league club

The Royals are expected to call up Porter from Triple-A Omaha on Monday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Porter has been productive at Omaha this season, hitting .235 with 13 home runs, 52 runs, 47 RBI and a stolen base over 109 games. He'll have the opportunity to make his major-league debut late in the regular season, but it seems likely that he'll have to settle for a depth role behind the dish or at first base.
