Padres' Luis Arraez: Set for stint on 7-day IL
Arraez (concussion) is expected to be placed on the 7-day injured list, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Arraez is dealing with concussion symptoms following his collision with Mauricio Dubon on Sunday. Arraez was stretchered off the field and taken to the hospital for further evaluation. He's since posted on social media that everything checked out fine, but the Padres are going to play it safe with their first baseman and let him rest this week. Connor Joe, Yuli Gurriel and Gavin Sheets will be candidates for increased playing time.

Padres' Luis Arraez: Exits early after scary collision
Arraez was removed from Sunday's contest against the Astros in the top of the first inning after a collision at first base, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Arraez laid down a bunt in his first at-bat of the day, making forceful contact with Mauricio Dubon at first base while busting it down the line. Arraez remained down for several minutes before being carted off the field with his head and neck stabilized, including a brace around his neck. More information on his status will likely be provided in the near future.

Padres' Luis Arraez: Pops third homer
Arraez went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Padres.
The 28-year-old contact king lofted a Bryan King fastball at the top of the zone down the right-field line in the seventh inning, accounting for the Padres' final offense of the night. Arraez has hit safely in six straight games, batting .357 (10-for-28) over that stretch to boost his slash line on the season to .294/.322/.435, but he's also flashing more power than usual to kick off 2025. Arraez has homered three times in 20 games, after leaving the yard only four times in 150 regular-season contests last year.

Padres' Luis Arraez: Goes deep in victory
Arraez went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs against the Cubs in a 10-4 win Monday.
Arraez hit the second of back-to-back homers with Fernando Tatis in the eighth inning as the Padres pulled away for their 11th straight home victory. The veteran infielder has all but wiped out memories of his slow start to the season -- after going 0-for-13 over his first four games, Arraez has since boosted his average up to .282. That mark is likely to come up even further given that Arraez has never batted less than .294 over a full season, and with two homers so far, he's already halfway to the four long balls he hit across 150 regular-season games last year.

Padres' Luis Arraez: Posts four-hit day
Arraez went 4-for-5 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Cubs.
Arraez reached base five times and is now eight-for-his-last 16 with a home run and a double. Arraez has not struck out in 44 plate appearances this season and is the only player in baseball, with a minimum of 15 plate appearances, yet to strike out.

Padres' Luis Arraez: Homers, swipes bag in win
Arraez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Guardians.
After an uncharacteristic 0-for-16 start from the three-time batting champion, Arraez has begun to look like his regular self with hits in three consecutive games. Wednesday's contest also saw the 27-year-old belt his first home run of the season, though fantasy managers shouldn't expect many more long balls from him after he finished 2024 with just four homers.

Padres' Luis Arraez: Collects three hits in spring game
Arraez went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and a stolen base in Friday's Cactus League win over Texas.
Arraez is swinging a hot bat this spring, batting .433 over 30 at-bats. He did a couple things Friday that are out of the norm for him, as he both hit a homer and stole a base. Arraez had just four long balls and nine thefts over 672 regular-season plate appearances last year, which are reasons why he's often taken outside of the top 150 in fantasy drafts. That said, Arraez is as dependable as it gets when it comes to providing elite batting average, as evidenced by his run of three consecutive batting titles.

Padres' Luis Arraez: Thumb injury behind him
Arraez said Wednesday that "I feel like I got a new thumb" following surgery in October to repair a torn ligament, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune reports.
Arraez tore the UCL in his left thumb on a slide on June 25 and played through "a lot" of pain before eventually undergoing offseason surgery. He managed to win his third straight batting title in 2024, although Arraez's .314 average in the regular season was down 21 points and his slugging percentage dropped 53 points from over the previous two years. The 27-year-old could have a mini bounce-back 2025 season, although he is likely to remain largely a one-category specialist.
