  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Quick return to majors

The Mets recalled Brazoban from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. The right-hander was optioned to Syracuse on Friday, but he'll rejoin the Mets just a couple days later since Paul Blackburn (hand) was placed on the injured list. Brazoban has a 3.76 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 44:18 K:BB across 40.2 innings between the Mets and Marlins this season.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Optioned to Syracuse

The Mets optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. Brazoban is the roster casualty following the return of Dedniel Nunez (forearm) from the injured list. Since being traded from Miami to New York in July, Brazoban has surrendered seven earned runs in only 10 innings -- a stark contrast in performance from the 2.93 ERA he posted in 30.2 frames with the Marlins.

  • Mets' Huascar Brazoban: Sent to Queens

The Mets acquired Brazoban from the Marlins on Tuesday in exchange for outfield prospect Wilfredo Lara, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Brazoban had primarily worked in middle relief for Miami this season and pitched well with a 2.93 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB over 30.2 innings. The right-hander will likely fill a similar role for the Mets.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Might get chance to close

Brazoban is a candidate to step into the closer role for the Marlins in the event Tanner Scott gets traded, Kaushik Sampath of the Miami Herald reports. Andrew Nardi is viewed as the top option to replace Scott, especially with A.J. Puk having been shipped to the Diamondbacks, but Brazoban might also be a factor in the ninth inning. The right-hander missed the beginning of the season due to visa issues, but since making his 2024 debut at the beginning of June, he has posted a 3.14 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB through 28.2 innings. He's taken things to another level over the last month or so, giving up zero earned runs over his last eight games with a 0.79 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB in 12.2 innings. Brazoban hasn't seen much high-leverage work this season, however, managing only one hold and one win in 18 appearances.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Collects first hold

Brazoban struck out one in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning Tuesday to record his first hold of the season in a win over the Royals. The 34-year-old right-hander didn't get a chance to break camp on the 26-man roster due to visa issues, but Brazoban has looked good since joining the Marlins at the end of May. Through nine appearances and 15.1 innings, he's posted a 2.93 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB, and he may be working his way into a higher-leverage role.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Back in majors

Brazoban was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday. Brazoban missed early portions of the 2024 campaign due to visa issues but has been brought up to speed since clearing those up and will rejoin the Marlins' bullpen. Brazoban appeared in 50 games last season with Miami and owns a 5.91 ERA across 10.2 innings with Jacksonville this year. He'll likely fill a middle-relief role with the Marlins.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Optioned to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.. Brazoban missed all of spring training and spent the first month of the season on the restricted list with visa issues. Those have been resolved, but he will head to Jacksonville for now to knock the rust off as he looks to earn a spot back in the Marlins' bullpen.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Activated from restricted list

The Marlins reinstated Brazoban (personal) from the restricted list Thursday. Brazoban landed on the restricted list prior to Opening Day due to visa issues, which have evidently been resolved. Though he's now back on the Marlins' 40-man roster, it's unclear when the reliever might be ready to join the 26-man active roster. Since he missed all of spring training, Brazoban will presumably need to make several appearances in the minors before being an option for the big-league bullpen.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Goes on restricted list

The Marlins placed Brazoban (personal) on the restricted list Tuesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Brazoban missed all of spring training and remains in the Dominican Republic after he was unable to acquire a work visa that would have allowed him to re-enter the United States. The Marlins haven't provided a timeline for when Brazoban's visa issue might be resolved. His placement on the restricted list will open a spot on Miami's 40-man roster, which may be used on another reliever to replace Brazoban.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Set for rehab assignment

Brazoban (hamstring/hip) is beginning a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Out since mid-August due to a left hamstring strain and left hip impingement, Brazoban might become an option again for the Marlins' bullpen leading into the final week of the regular season. He registered a 4.29 ERA and 60:31 K:BB across 56.2 innings prior to landing on the injured list.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Throws off mound

Brazoban (hamstring/hip) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Monday, MLB.com reports. It's the third time Brazoban has thrown from the bump since he landed on the injured list in mid-August with a left hamstring strain and left hip impingement. It would seem as though the reliever has a good chance to make it back before the end of the season, but a timeline for his activation is uncertain.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Placed on 15-day IL

Brazoban was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Brazoban suffered the injury while working in relief Sunday against the Yankees and will be sidelined through at least Aug. 29. Bryan Hoeing is joining the Marlins in a corresponding roster move.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Optioned to Triple-A

Miami optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday. Brazoban was charged with two earned runs while failing to record an out in his most recent appearance Wednesday versus the Phillies. Devin Smeltzer will take his spot in the Marlins' bullpen ahead of Thursday's series finale.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Optioned to Triple-A

Brazoban was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Archie Bradley will join the Marlins' bullpen in a corresponding move. Brazoban threw 32 pitches over two innings of relief in Monday's series opener at Seattle and wasn't going to be available for a bit. He holds a 4.01 ERA in 28 appearances this year with Miami.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Dominant relief outing

Brazoban gave up two hits and struck out four in 1.1 scoreless innings of relief during Thursday's loss to Atlanta. With the Marlins down 4-3 in the sixth inning, Brazoban took over from Jesus Luzardo and struck out Ronald Acuna to end the inning and strand a runner in scoring position, before striking out the side around a pair of singles in the seventh. Brazoban has been outstanding for the Marlins to begin 2023, posting a 2.37 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB through 19 innings with four holds. The right-hander has worked more than one inning in eight of his 13 appearances, and his ability to deliver bulk strikeouts and strong ratios gives him some fantasy value in NL-only formats even without a path to consistent saves.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Clears up visa issues

Brazoban has solved his visa issues and is expected to arrive at Marlins camp Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. There should still be plenty of time left on the spring training calendar for Brazoban to carve out a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. He appears to be slated for a long-relief role this year with Miami after registering a 3.09 ERA and 40:21 K:BB across his first 32 major-league innings in 2022.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Still yet to receive visa

Brazoban is still without a visa and remains away from the Marlins as spring training gets started, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports. Brazoban has had a tough time getting back to the States for the start of the 2023 season. If the 33-year-old cannot make it to camp relatively soon, he could lose his spot in the Marlins' bullpen this season. The right-hander appeared in 27 games with the team last season, producing a serviceable 3.09 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 40 strikeouts over 32 innings as a reliever.
