  • Brewers' Brewer Hicklen: Returns to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Hicklen to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

Hicklen appeared in three games for the Brewers since being recalled by the big club on Sept. 1, going 0-for-5 with four strikeouts and one stolen base over that span. He'll return to an everyday role in the outfield with Nashville, where he is slashing .247/.364/.484 with 42 stolen bases, 21 home runs and 68 RBI across 453 plate appearances this season. Milwaukee selected Isaac Collins' contract from Nashville in a corresponding move.

  • Brewers' Brewer Hicklen: Gets call-up from Triple-A

The Brewers recalled Hicklen from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

Signed to a minor-league deal over the winter, Hicklen received a spot on Milwaukee's 40-man roster over the All-Star break after he got off to a hot start to the season at Triple-A. The 28-year-old outfielder's production has slowed in the second half, but he still slashed .247/.364/.484 with 21 home runs and 42 stolen bases over 105 games with Nashville to earn the promotion to Milwaukee in September. The right-handed Hicklen will be put to work right away, as he'll start in right field and bat fifth while the Reds send southpaw Brandon Williamson to the hill. Hicklen could end up settling in as a regular platoon mate for the left-handed-hitting Sal Frelick in right.

  • Brewers' Brewer Hicklen: Added to 40-man roster

The Brewers selected Hicklen's contract and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Though he won't receive a promotion to the big leagues coming out of the All-Star break, Hicklen's addition to Milwaukee's 40-man roster at least removes a potential obstacle in him getting a call-up at a later date. The 28-year-old outfielder has been one of the top performers at Nashville this season, slashing .270/.383/.571 with 19 home runs and 26 stolen bases across 313 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Brewer Hicklen: Receives NRI from Brewers

Hicklen signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

He's been given an invitation to spring training as part of the deal. Hicklen received a cup of coffee in the majors with the Royals in 2022 but spent all of 2023 at the Triple-A level between the Kansas City and Philadelphia organizations, posting an .804 OPS. He'll compete for a reserve outfielder job this spring but is likely headed to Triple-A Nashville.

  • Phillies' Brewer Hicklen: Lands in Philly organization

The Phillies acquired Hicklen from the Royals on Wednesday.

Hicklen, 27, had a cup of coffee with Kansas City last season but has spent all of 2023 at Triple-A Omaha, posting a .789 OPS with eight home runs and 15 stolen bases in 61 games. He wasn't a member of Kansas City's 40-man roster and will serve as organizational depth as he moves to Philadelphia.

  • Royals' Brewer Hicklen: Overcomes elbow injury

Hicklen (elbow) has appeared in six games and has gone 3-for-18 with two doubles and a 3:8 BB:K since being activated from Triple-A Omaha's 7-day injured list April 25.

Hicklen missed just under a month of game action for Omaha due to the right elbow strain he suffered at some point during the offseason. The 27-year-old outfielder received a brief cameo in the majors with Kansas City last season, but he no longer possesses a spot on the 40-man roster and will face an uphill battle to make it back to the big leagues.

  • Royals' Brewer Hicklen: Sidelined with elbow injury

Hicklen will miss eight weeks with a right elbow strain, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The outfield prospect isn't on the 40-man roster and was unlikely to make the team anyway, but he'll now get a late start at Triple-A Omaha. Hicklen posted an .850 OPS with 28 homers and 35 steals for Omaha last season, although that also came with 202 strikeouts.

  • Royals' Brewer Hicklen: Back with Triple-A squad

The Royals returned Hicklen to Triple-A Omaha following Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

Since Hicklen joined the Royals as a replacement for one of the 10 players who were placed on the restricted list prior to Thursday's series opener in Toronto, he won't be exposed to waivers even while he comes off the 40-man roster as he heads back to Omaha. Hicklen didn't make any starts during the four-game series with the Blue Jays but went a collective 0-for-2 with a run scored while seeing usage off the bench in each contest.

  • Royals' Brewer Hicklen: Promoted from Triple-A

The Royals selected Hicklen's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Hicklen was one of eight players summoned from the minors ahead of the Royals' four-game series in Toronto, where the big club will be without the 10 players on the active roster who were moved to the restricted list Thursday due to their vaccination statuses. The Royals plan on adding two more players from the minors this weekend, but those call-ups will likely come on the pitching side. Kansas City is rolling out a starting outfield Thursday that includes Edward Olivares and Ryan O'Hearn at the two corner spots and Triple-A call-up Nate Eaton in center, so Hicklen could be limited to a depth role while he's up with the big club this weekend. Hicklen has produced an .869 OPS while going 18-for-18 on stolen-base attempts over 311 plate appearances with Omaha this season.

  • Royals' Brewer Hicklen: Heading back to minors

Hicklen was returned to Triple-A Omaha on Monday.

The 26-year-old spent the last few days with the major-league club as a replacement player after Kyle Isbel (illness) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list. Hicklen went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts over two games and will head back to the minors since Isbel was activated Monday.

  • Royals' Brewer Hicklen: Not in Friday's lineup

Hicklen isn't starting Friday against the Twins.

Hicklen made his major-league debut Thursday against Minnesota but went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts. While he's a strong candidate to see playing time in center field while Michael Taylor and Kyle Isbel are on the COVID-19 injured list, Whit Merrifield will shift to center while Ryan O'Hearn serves as the designated hitter Friday.

  • Royals' Brewer Hicklen: Promoted for big-league debut

Hicklen's contract was selected from Triple-A Omaha and he is starting in center field Thursday at Minnesota.

Kyle Isbel (illness) is joining Michael Taylor (illness) on the COVID-19 injured list Thursday, and Hicklen will be called up for his MLB debut as a result. Hicklen has a .266/.350/.455 slash line with five home runs, 24 RBI and 11 stolen bases through 42 games with Omaha this season, and he could play a significant role for the Royals with both Isbel and Taylor out.
