Rockies' Alan Trejo: Secures roster spot
Rockies manager Bud Black announced Tuesday that Trejo made the Opening Day roster, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
The 27-year-old was in camp as a non-roster invitee after being outrighted off the 40-man roster in January, but he'll be added back to the major-league roster ahead of Thursday's season opener in Arizona. Trejo appeared in 83 games for Colorado last season and had a .232/.288/.343 slash line.

Rockies' Alan Trejo: Outrighted to Triple-A
The Rockies sent Trejo outright to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
Trejo's move to Triple-A and off the 40-man roster comes as a result of Dakota Hudson signing with the Rockies on Friday. Trejo slashed .232/.288/.343 with 26 RBI across 227 plate appearances last season. However, he has historically performed significantly better in Triple-A, and he could still return to Colorado if he gets off to another hot start in the minors.

Trejo has been mired in a 1-for-25 stretch but has now recorded four hits over his past two games, including Friday's blast. The utility player is hitting .226 with four homers, 26 RBI, 23 runs and five steals over 205 at-bats.

Trejo went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored, a stolen base and a walk in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to Atlanta.
Entering Wednesday, Trejo had gone 0-for-12 across his last seven games while holding down a reserve role. The homer was his first since Aug. 13, while the steal was his first in 32 games dating back to June 3. The infielder has a poor .237/.283/.353 slash line with three long balls, five thefts, 22 RBI and 18 runs scored over 188 plate appearances this season.

Trejo's fourth-inning blast tied the game at 3-3, but the Rockies' offense stalled out from there. The infielder has gone 4-for-15 over his last seven games while playing in a limited role. He snapped a homer drought of 15 contests dating back to July 16. Trejo hasn't exactly impressed with a .248/.287/.357 slash line, two homers, 19 RBI, 16 runs scored and four stolen bases over 168 plate appearances, but he could push for some playing time at second base with Brendan Rodgers struggling.

Trejo went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Monday's win over Washington.
Trejo had a near-perfect day at the plate, highlighted by the seventh inning where he doubled and scored a run. It was his first multi-hit game since May 26 -- in 14 games between then and Monday, he posted a .583 OPS with 12 strikeouts in 33 at-bats. Trejo improved his season slash line to .256/.291/.353 with 11 extra-base hits and 15 runs scored through 142 plate appearances.

Trejo entered as a pinch runner and scored in the eighth inning before walking it off with his solo shot in the 11th. The homer was his first of the season in 46 contests. The infielder has added 14 RBI, 12 runs scored, eight doubles and four stolen bases over 128 plate appearances. Trejo doesn't have an immediate path to significant playing time -- his best bet would be to compete with Harold Castro at second base, which could earn Trejo a short-side platoon role.

Trejo returns to the Rockies in a utility infield role following a three-week stay in the minors. He hit the ball well on the farm but holds a weak .241/.271/.313 batting line with zero home runs across 41 games (119 plate appearances) this year in the bigs.

Rockies' Alan Trejo: Retreats to minors
The Rockies optioned Trejo to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.
Trejo had been serving as a short-side platoon option in the infield for the Rockies, but he hadn't been especially effective in that role. Colorado called up infielder Coco Montes from Triple-A to serve as a replacement for Trejo, who has slashed .241/.271/.313 with zero home runs and four stolen bases across 119 plate appearances for Colorado on the season.
